📚✨ And that’s a wrap on Book Week! ✨📚

What a wonderful week of stories, imagination, dress-ups and lots of fun! We have loved seeing the children bring their favourite books and characters to life and sharing in their excitement each day. ❤️

A big thank you to all our families for getting involved and helping make Book Week so special. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

Book Week has been so much fun!

It’s been amazing seeing all the different costumes come through — from Spider-Man 🕷️, Bear Hunt 🐻, Where’s Wally? 👀, Harry Potter 🪄 and so many more!

We’ve loved seeing everyone get into the Book Week spirit!

Can’t wait to see what other amazing costumes pop up throughout the rest of the week!

Celebrating Science Week!

Our little scientists have been busy exploring, experimenting and discovering during Science Week! 🧪✨

We had so much fun investigating cause and effect through a range of exciting hands-on experiments, including:

🍬 Skittle Experiment – watching the colours from the Skittles spread and create a beautiful rainbow pattern! 🌈
🌀 Colour Swirling – exploring how colours move, mix and swirl together to create amazing patterns.
🦠 Germ Experiment – learning about germs and how easily they can spread, helping us understand why washing our hands is so important! 🧼
🌋 Colourful Volcano Explosion – creating our very own bubbly, colourful eruptions and watching the reaction happen! 💥🌈

It was wonderful to see the children making predictions, asking questions, observing changes and sharing their ideas as they explored.

Science is all around us, and what better way to learn than by getting hands-on and having fun!

What a wonderful week of curiosity, investigation and hands-on learning in our Kindy room! 🔍💡

Our children have been exploring how seeds grow 🌱, talking about what plants need to grow, investigating different types of seeds and sharing their ideas and predictions.

We also had lots of fun exploring magnetic toys 🧲 and discovering what magnets can do through hands-on experimentation.

Our milk, food colouring and dish soap experiment 🥛🌈 had the children fascinated as they watched the colours move and swirl, encouraging lots of questions and conversations about what was happening.

We also put our problem-solving, coordination and balance skills to the test with our stepping buckets! 🪣👣 The children worked out how to step onto the buckets while using the attached strings to pull them along. It took plenty of practice, patience and persistence, but the children kept trying different ways to make them move!

It has been a week full of wondering, questioning, experimenting, problem-solving and learning through play. We love seeing where the children's curiosity takes them!

Strong relationships are the foundation for confident, curious learners 💛

Goodstart’s key educator approach ensures every child is known, supported and feels safe - through consistent, nurturing connections with educators and meaningful partnerships with families. These bonds help build wellbeing, resilience and a true sense of belonging from day one.

💙 Genes for Jeans Day 2026 💙

Today at Goodstart Ballajura, our children and educators proudly wore their denim and participated in a range of fun learning experiences to support Genes for Jeans Day.

Throughout the day, we explored the importance of kindness, inclusion and helping others, while raising awareness for children and families living with genetic conditions. It was a wonderful opportunity to have meaningful conversations and teach our children about empathy, compassion and making a positive difference in our community.

Thank you to all of our families who supported this important cause by dressing in denim and donating. Together, we're helping create a brighter future for those affected by genetic conditions. 💙👖

💐Today we celebrated a very special milestone as we farewelled our wonderful centre cook- Cassie, after an incredible 10 years with us.

We were so grateful to come together for a special morning tea to celebrate her and thank her for everything she has contributed over the years.

Please join us in wishing her all the very best for a happy, healthy, and well-deserved retirement. You will be greatly missed, and we thank you for the lasting impact you've had on our children, families, and team. 💐❤️

🌿✨ A little glimpse into our Nursery room transformation! ✨🌿

Our environment is always a work in progress as we continuously observe, reflect and make thoughtful changes to ensure our space is safe, calm and welcoming for all children.

By creating inviting spaces filled with natural elements, cosy areas and opportunities for exploration, we support our little learners to feel secure, curious and engaged each day. 💚

We believe the environment is a powerful teacher, and our Nursery team is dedicated to creating spaces where children can learn, play and grow through meaningful experiences every day. 🍃🧸
