A Decade of Joyful Moments. Celebrating 10 Years of the Elizabeth Quay Carousel.
It was a family trip to San Sebastián, Spain, in 2012 that first sparked the idea for the Elizabeth Quay Carousel. Watching our children light up as they rode the beachfront carousel, we found ourselves wondering: “Why don’t we have something like this in Perth?”
Four years later, in December 2016, the Elizabeth Quay Carousel was officially opened by then Premier Colin Barnett. It was the early chapter of Elizabeth Quay with just a handful of businesses, modest foot traffic, and plenty of construction dust in the air.
Fast forward a decade, and the precinct has evolved into a vibrant destination.
Over the years, we’ve welcomed an array of familiar faces, from global artists like Marshmello and Lil Nas X, to local sporting heroes, media personalities and political figures. We’ve been the backdrop for two STM covers, high-fashion photoshoots, and countless wedding and family portraits. We’ve proudly supported fundraising efforts for Lifeline WA, Zero2Hero and Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
But above all, our heart has always been in creating joy. The Carousel was built for families and for moments of wonder, for traditions and memories that linger long after the ride ends. Our greatest hope is that the children who rode with us a decade ago will return with their own families one day, keeping the magic alive across generations.
Here’s to the next 10 years of memories, laughter and community at Elizabeth Quay.
