A burst of pink above the rest, Grevillea petrophiloides (commonly known as Pink Pokers) is adored by local wildlife, visitors and horticulturists alike! 💗

Growing to 3 metres in height through the spring and summer months, this exceptionally ornamental species is a valuable food source for birds. Its large reddish-pink flower racemes rise above the lush green foliage on elongated branches that gently sway in the breeze.

👀 See this species currently flowering in the Goldfields Collection and the Grevillea and Hakea Collection, both accessible from Roe Gardens.

The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority is hiring Turf Apprentices to work alongside its operational teams at Kings Park while studying a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.

Community update 📢 The Arthur Fairall Playground will be demolished in mid to late October 2026 following an independent engineering assessment that found the structure had reached the end of its usable life and posed a future safety risk to the community.

We understand this will be disappointing for many families, but visitor safety is our priority.

Future play opportunities will be considered as part of broader planning for May Drive Parkland.

Lycopod Island remains open as an alternative play space nearby.

The living collections at Kings Park and Botanic Garden are truly unique. Over decades, propagation techniques have been developed to help conserve some of Western Australia's most vulnerable plant species.

This hands-on workshop will teach you how to grow plants from cuttings, covering the environmental conditions, techniques and equipment needed for success. You'll also take home your own propagated plants and an information handout to continue your growing journey. 🌼🪴
