It was built as an open plan school with an on site double unit Pre-Primary Centre. The school buildings consist of three clusters, each containing six teaching areas, two practical areas and a withdrawal area. All the classrooms, including the pre primary, library, office and staff room have been air-conditioned by the School's P and C Association through fund raising and through Federal Governme
nt funding. In addition to the seventeen permanent teaching areas, one demountable classroom is use as a permanent teaching area. The Federal Government funding has seen two new buildings constructed on site. These include a multi purpose building consisting of an enclosed assembly area, science room, music room, various storage areas and a canteen facility. The second building is a three classroom Early Childhood Centre which houses the Pre-Primary children. A well-equipped computer laboratory has been established. All classes from Year 1 to Year 6 are timetabled for weekly Computer Education lessons, in addition to the computers in the classroom. The specialist areas in the school now consist of Science, Music and Physical Education. We also have a Languages other than English program, delivering Italian to children in Years 2 to 6. A Music Program operates in our school for Years 1-6 students. Our Junior and Senior choirs regularly sing at festivals and entertain senior citizens. Our school also provides tuition for year 6 students in flute and guitar. Our Physical Education program is very comprehensive and provides for all children in years 1-6. The children also participate in summer and winter inter school carnivals, an inter school athletics carnival, inter school cross country as well as the faction carnival and the faction cross country. A Science program is provided for children in Years 1-6 with a Science Specialist Teacher. The Science Specialist teacher increases interest in learning science with a hands on approach, through discovery learning. We develop science teaching through the use of Primary Connections and linking into the West Australian Curriculum. We provide for remediation and extension in our school for years Pre Primary to Year 6. Some of our parents are trained to tutor children in reading. Tutors work individually with the student to assist in the development of their reading skills. The school has developed a new Managing Student Behaviour Policy with the help of parents and staff. Our Values Program continues to develop the skills of the children and is a valuable learning tool.
