Not here.
Not now.
Not EVER!

Today Scott Morrison announced a military alliance between the Australia, USA and the UK. This alliance will see nuclear submarines stationed in our harbours and off our shores.

This is a dangerous move that makes us less safe. 😑

This is the time to be rethinking our dependence on the United States, not increasing it.

If the Government is going to spend billions of dollars, it should be towards things the community actually needs like support for people in lockdown, a livable JobSeeker rate, a properly funded NDIS, mental & dental into Medicare and meaningful climate action.

Don’t let the Liberals nuclearise our communities. Not here, not now, not ever. πŸ‘‰ https://greens.org.au/campaigns/no-nuclear-subs

While the rest of the world is going electric, Australia is shamefully falling behind. WA is one of the worst states in one of the worst countries for electric vehiclesπŸš—πŸ”Œ

The good news is there's heaps we can do to take action. The transportation sector is responsible for 18% of WA's total emissions so going electric is taking climate actionπŸŒπŸ‘

WA needs:

πŸ”Œ Upfront subsidies and zero-interest loans for EV purchases
πŸ”Œ Free rego for the first two years
πŸ”Œ Stamp duty reductions for EVs
πŸ”Œ A government fleet of at LEAST 50% electric cars by 2025
πŸ”Œ More solar-powered EV charging stations, especially at workplaces so we can take advantage of peak sunshine and even further reduce emissions!

These reforms must of course be coupled with big investments in better public transport, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure to ultimately reduce our reliance on cars in WA.

The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is worsening. Australia must act immediately. There is no time to delay in offering our protection, aid and assistance to those who have been forced to evacuate.

Australia’s military involvement significantly contributed to the political instability and we have a moral obligation to assist. We cannot abandon the people of Afghanistan. We must act now.

Can anyone explain to me why the McGowan Government is doing this? We've got 234 of the best climate experts in the world telling us no more fossil fuels and yet they’ve just further approved this project.

It's hard to understand how the McGowan Government can make statements to the media about legislating emissions targets and then turn around and approve gas projects that will push us deeper into a climate crisis.

The two are simply incompatible.

As the largest exporter of gas in the world, WA's climate action (or lack thereof!!) is very literally having global impacts.

It's time for the McGowan Government to listen to the climate science.

Here's a snapshot of just a fraction of the activities our candidates and volunteers have been involved with this week - handing out how-to-vote cards at early election centres, door knocking, and even a cos play for climate change event!

We are all keen to see Brad Pettitt, Greens candidate for South Metro, Diane Evers, Greens MLC for South West and Tim Clifford MLC successfully elected. With only 10 days to go, now is the time to get on board and help us push Labor further and faster on climate action!
