It’s important to teach children why and how they should look after the natural environment – especially on a local scale. That’s why our Coolbellup class have been learning different ways to implement environmentally sustainable work practice as part of unit BSBSUS411.

In this short exercise, students used an online tool to understand their own ecological footprint so they could better understand how their everyday work has an impact on the environment, and how they can adjust their personal and working lives to help our planet a little bit at a time.

Look, we don’t want to boast but we were super impressed with our student’s skills when it came to puppet making!

Arts and craft are a great way to engage children in the Early Years sector because it helps engage their hand/finger coordination and problem solving while allowing their imagination to run wild. Our student’s imaginations definitely ran wild with these creations!

National Simultaneous Storytime was on today!

What does that mean? Well, at 10am AWST across Australia, millions of children, educators and teachers turned to the exact same book to read a story together. All in different places but all at the same time!

Our Beechboro class got in on the act too, joining the service’s children as they listened to experienced Educator Lisa read the ‘Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller’ and played through some of the fun activities that had been set up. It was great to hear Lisa read the book and see how she managed the classroom and engaged children with the story, drawing out its inspirational themes and discussing the different animals in the book.

▶️🍩 is one of the best tools Early Childhood Educators have available!

That’s why the learners at Ballajura were exploring both how to make playdough and the different ways they could use it in activity planning. As Trainer and Assessor Maria points out, playdough encourages creativity and imagination, allows children to explore different textures, colours, and shapes, and strengthens their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Additionally, playdough activities support social interaction when children work together, share tools, and communicate their ideas. Overall, it is an enjoyable, hands-on experience that promotes both learning and play.

Want our secret recipe? Comment ‘playdough’ below and we’ll message you with it!

Celebration time 👏

Trainer and Assessor Briana was proud to present Madison with her CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care last week. Madison completed her Certificate III in the classroom with Meerilinga Training College before seeking employment to help her complete her Diploma as a trainee. She has been a valued part of Moolanda Care and Learning Centre throughout her traineeship and is now even better equipped for her work in the sector.

Well done, Madison!
