Yesterday, we acknowledged National Sorry Day — a time to reflect on the Stolen Generations and recognise the pain and injustices experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As we now move into National Reconciliation Week, we continue our commitment to building understanding, respect and stronger relationships within our community.

At Edney Primary School, we value the contributions of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and work to strengthen our partnerships for the benefit of all students. We recognise the deep and continuing connection to land, culture and community, and acknowledge the wrongdoings of the past as we work together towards reconciliation and a more inclusive future.

Later this term, in Week 11, our school will also recognise NAIDOC Week through a range of classroom activities and learning experiences centred around this year’s theme, “50 Years of Deadly”. This theme celebrates the achievements, culture, strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the past 50 years. Students will have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning that promotes respect, understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures and histories.

Happy P&C Day, WA!
Today we say a huge THANK YOU to our amazing P&C at Edney Primary School!
You all contribute so much to our school and community.
Your dedication and passion is incredible, and we’re so grateful to each and every one of you.

Our students shared what they are grateful for on their 'High-Five for the P&C Hands' — and the list was long. They love Juice Box and Donut Day, Pizza Lunch, the Colour Run, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, Icy-pole day and all the fun fundraisers that help us go swimming and support so many great things around our school.
These moments create memories, build community, and make school life brighter.

We encourage everyone in our school community to get on board, share the P&C light, and let our P&C know just how appreciated they are for everything they do! 👏👏

🌟 Week 5 at Edney! 🌟
We’re diving into an exciting week with our first week of swimming lessons running Monday to Friday. Please make sure students arrive on time and come prepared with their swimwear, towel, goggles, thongs, and a plastic bag for wet items. Label everything so it finds its way back home.

On Thursday, we’ll also be holding our Kindy Health Nurse screening catch‑up day.

Breakfast Club will be open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, giving students a great start to the morning.

Run Club is on Wednesday, so lace up those shoes and get ready to move.

It’s shaping up to be a busy, fun week for our school community. Thanks for helping your children be prepared and ready to shine! 🌈

EC2 led a beautiful assembly this morning, taking time to honour our mums and mother figures after celebrating Mother’s Day last weekend. With big voices and even bigger hearts, the students shared messages of gratitude, sang with pride, and reflected on the many ways the special women in their lives show love, strength and care every day. It was a joyful celebration of family, kindness and connection, and a lovely reminder of how important our mother figures are in shaping who we are.💐🩷🎤

On Tuesday, our students hit the track with incredible energy, determination, and school spirit.
From the first race to the final sprint, we saw teamwork, resilience, and plenty of proud smiles. Every runner, whether they dashed, jogged, or paced themselves, showed what it means to give your best and support one another.
It was a fantastic day of fitness, fun, and community, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who took part.
A huge congratulations to all our participants for making this year’s Cross Country Day one to remember. 🏃‍♀️🏃
