Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week, and this year's theme — All In — is a call for all of us to commit to reconciliation every single day.
Reconciliation is all about developing respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. It's an ongoing journey, not a single event — and one we all have a role in.
At Rise, we're proud to walk that journey alongside our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, the people we support, and our community. This week, we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn, listen, and reflect.

One of the people we support through our Individual Support Program recently did something that took real courage — he submitted his artwork to the City of Gosnells Art Exhibition, and it was exhibited!

For someone working through agoraphobia, depression and OCD, that's not a small thing. That's enormous. Alongside his artwork, he's been volunteering independently and continuing his TAFE studies — each step building on the last.

This is what the Individual Support Program is about: working alongside the people we support, at their pace, toward goals that matter to them. It's a genuine partnership — and just as rewarding for our team as it is for the people we walk alongside.

Congratulations, we're so proud to be part of your story. 🎨

We’re hiring a Mental Health Worker - Tenancy Support

In this role, you will support people within the Independent Living Program (ILP) across the Swan and Northam regions. Using a recovery-focused approach, you will assist people to maintain stable housing and sustain their tenancies.

This is a varied role combining outreach and office-based work, with most of your time spent visiting people in their homes and within the community. A hybrid work arrangement may be available once you are established in the role.

It’s a highly rewarding position where you will provide vital tenancy support to vulnerable people, alongside case management, advocacy, and referrals to appropriate services.

Applications close Sunday 7 June 2026.

Have questions? Contact [email protected] — our team will be happy to assist you.

“I love being part of their lives” – Volunteers share why they give back 💙

National Volunteer Week started today, recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make to the Rise community. To celebrate, we’ve been hosting special breakfasts across Perth to thank our volunteers for everything they do.

At today’s Arts Hub breakfast, volunteers shared what inspires them to give their time and support members:

“It’s very rewarding. When you’re helping other people, you get a real buzz out of it.” – Irene McBeath

“The amount of friends I’ve made. I love being part of their lives. They’ve got such kind hearts. They are always happy and it rubs off on you – it keeps me going.” – Leon Brien

“It gives me a sense of belonging and commitment to the community. I picked up on how important it is when my mother needed support.” – Nigel Hodder

“I like chatting to clients and hearing their stories. I like the conversations and meeting people. I like the variety; you never know what’s going to happen.” – Liz Marsh

We’re so grateful for the time, energy and heart our volunteers bring to Rise every day 💙

What a beautiful outing for Warwick Social Centre members at the Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm! 🌿☀️

We fed guinea pigs and rabbits, and Yolanda bottle-fed a baby goat. A very hungry goat tried to eat Ron’s walking stick, and we also had a chat with some very friendly cockatoos.

Everyone agreed it was the perfect day out in the Swan Valley.

Centre members enjoyed a great day experiencing the marine environment at AQWA The Aquarium of Western Australia🌊
After a scenic drive up the coast, the group spent the morning viewing the exhibits and sharing morning tea. Members then visited the touch pool, enjoying hands-on interaction with starfish and small sharks. 🐠
They continued through the underwater aquarium, with highlights including the sharks and stingrays, and watching the divers feed the marine life.
The outing finished with lunch at The Breakwater before heading home after a full and enjoyable day in the community.

What a day celebrating Youth Week 2026! 🙌

Our Rising Futures Festival at Stratton brought over 100 young people together for a fantastic mix of activities — from live music and a silent disco, to meeting therapy animals, and cooling off on the dunk tank and slip and slide. 🎶💦

It was great to see so many young people getting involved, trying new things and making the most of the day.
