📢 Financial Audit Update – Further Investigation
In May this year, we wrote to you about an independent forensic audit of GAC, as Manager of the General Gumala Foundation (GGF).
Beneficiaries regularly raise questions about financial management, and as Trustee of the GGF, we must provide transparency about how your funds are used.
We want to give you an update on the audit’s progress and the factors that have affected the original timeline. Many of you have asked about this, and we know it’s an important issue for Beneficiaries.
The forensic audit began on 15 May 2026. GAC requested two extensions – totalling six weeks – to provide the information required. As of 21 August, KPMG Australia has received most of the requested financial records, and stage one of the audit is underway.
KPMG has identified several areas that require further investigation.
These findings need prompt attention. Beneficiaries must be able to trust all Gumala bodies who have access to, and are responsible for, GGF funds.
For this reason, we have instructed KPMG to investigate further where areas of concern have been identified, so that we – and you – can have a complete understanding of the situation.
Because of the time required to access records and the need for additional analysis, the overall audit timeline has been extended. We will continue to keep you informed and will provide another update once we have the full picture.
We understand this news may be concerning, especially as we cannot provide more detail yet. However, we must have a full understanding of how funds are being used by all Gumala bodies in order to protect your funds now, and into the future – as instructed by the Foundation’s Elders.
