Last night, despite nearly 25mm of rain throughout the day, Perth Fire Brigade (PFB) assisted residents with a planned burn in the Devon Hills area. With a few minor set backs at the beginning, the burn was a success and will be continually monitored over the coming days. If any locals require additonal information / assistance with planned burns in the lead up to warmer weather, feel free to contact the station πŸ”₯πŸš’πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

πŸš’ It's St Florian’s Day, also known as International Firefighter’s Day.

❀️ Today we honour and thank every firefighter - current and past - for their bravery, dedication, and commitment to protecting our community.

🀍 We pause and remember those firefighters who have sadly lost their lives in service.

Winter is almost upon us.

The likelihood of accidental house fires increases with people spending more time at home.

Some tips to keep you and your family safe:

πŸ”ΊInstall smoke alarms in every bedroom and hallway.

πŸ”ΊHave a home fire escape plan that you practice with your whole family.

πŸ”ΊDust and test your smoke alarm once a month.

πŸ”Ί Clean your clothes dryer filter after each use and always run it until the end of the cool down cycle.

πŸ”ΊKeep everything two metres from the heater.

πŸ”ΊHave your chimney and flue professionally cleaned annually.

πŸ”ΊNever leave cooking unattended.

πŸ”ΊTurn your electric blanket off when you get into bed.

πŸ”ΊUse your wheat bag according to manufacturer’s instructions and never overheat in the microwave.

Stay safe and visit www.fire.tas.gov.au for more information on how to stay fire safe.
