Well, the net is coming out today, so my long swims will swap to the pool. Compensation was a beautiful morning sunrise to welcome the day.

I don't normally share football stuff, but this is the exception. The skills are amazing, but what I love most about this clip is the sheer exhilaration of Luke Jackson after he kicked the goal. What joy.

A big attendance at the Dawn Service at the Cottesloe Civic Centre. A very moving service - especially the contribution by the school students. Lest we forget.

I don't normally post other folks u-tube videos, but I found this fascinating. It has parallels to successful work that has been done in Australia to decrease surface water runoff and encourage infiltration, especially in arid regions. On a related point, many rivers in Australia had vegetation and natural barriers removed to improve navigation and reduce upstream flooding. The unintended effects have been a significant negative impact on groundwater levels and soil retention. This is especially the case for the Swan River in WA.

I think my garden must be pretty healthy. The golden orb weaver on my verandah (I think that's its name) has grown from about 15 mm to about 75 mm in a few weeks. It has a very impressive web. A great point of interest for my granddaughter.

PLANNING INQUIRY - submission deadline Friday Oct 31

The WA Opposition secured the Legislative Council Select Committee Inquiry into Land Development and Planning in WA.

The inquiry is looking into the integrity and transparency of decisions made by State planning bodies, including the WA Planning Commission and Development Assessment Panels.

The Cook Labor Government did not support this inquiry, and the Planning Minister continues to criticise it.

How odd! There are two Labor MP's on the inquiry committee - and if there's nothing to see, there's nothing fear!

I encourage individuals and community groups to have their say by making a submission to the Committee by following the link 🔗 below.

Submissions close October 31.
