Whiteman Park is a unique conservation and recreation reserve in Perth's northern suburbs, with museums, wildlife and more. Covering nearly 3,700 hectares of natural bushland and leisure facilities, the Park boasts a fantastic range of attractions and facilities and is a great year-round dest

ination for families. The picturesque grounds of the Village and Mussel Pool are perfect for picnics, with expansive lawns, shady trees and well-appointed facilities including playgrounds, sports courts, BBQs and shelters. Transport heritage is a major theme within the Park’s attractions, which includes Revolutions Transport Heritage Centre, the Motor Museum of Western Australia, the Tractor Museum, and vintage train and tram rides. The popular Caversham Wildlife Park and Nocturnal Woylie Walks of Woodland Reserve offer visitors the opportunity to get up close to some of our native wildlife. Whiteman Park also offers a 14km network of walk/cycle paths, three bush trails, a number of speciality shops and the Children’s Forest, where kids can learn about the bush and its inhabitants. Located on the Swan Coastal Plain, the Park boasts a vast array of native flora and fauna within its banksia woodlands and melaleuca damplands. It also serves to protect the Gnangara Water Mound, acting as an important wetland and water catchment resource.

Spring has sprung, and there’s plenty happening at Whiteman Park this September! 🌸 From nocturnal wildlife walks to low-sensory museum sessions and a day dedicated to four-legged friends, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

🤫 Quiet Hour at Revolutions Transport Museum | 9 & 21 September, 2.30–3.30pm
Enjoy a low-sensory museum experience with reduced lighting and sound, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the exhibits at their own pace.

🔦 Nocturnal Woylie Walks | Every Friday in September, 6pm
Explore the Woodland Reserve by torchlight with a knowledgeable volunteer guide, spot native wildlife and learn how Whiteman Park is helping protect the critically endangered woylie. Keep an eye out for woylies and quenda feeding right at your feet!

🚗Tarmac West Rally | 17 September, 1.30pm-4.30pm
Visit the Motor Museum of Western Australia and see motoring in action for two Special Stages of the Tarmac Events rally. Note: road closures will be in place all day on Whiteman Drive West and Mussel Pool Road. Enter the Park from Drumpellier Drive.

🔦 Kids Woylie Walks | 29 & 30 September, 6pm
A special night-time adventure for little wildlife lovers! Meet some of Whiteman Park’s education animals, explore the Woodland Reserve and visit the wetland to look and listen for resident frogs.

🐕 Doggies Day Out | 27 September, 10am–3pm
Bring your four-legged family members along for a fun-filled day at Mussel Pool West. Discover local pet services, browse pet products and let the pups enjoy plenty of space to roam, while the kids can enjoy face painting, a doggy-themed bouncy castle and more.

🌿 That’s a wrap on winter at Whiteman Park!

We’re celebrating the season by sharing some of your favourite moments from the Park over the past few months.

The Makuru and Djilba rains brought a fresh look to Whiteman Park: breathing life into the landscape and transforming the bushland into vibrant green spaces for our wildlife. From peaceful walks and wildlife spotting to exploring your favourite attractions, there was plenty to discover (even with a few puddles along the way! ☔).

A big thank you to everyone who rugged up, grabbed their gumboots and shared their adventures with us.

You see a tree covered in brown and you could easily mistake that for a sign of an unhappy tree... but get a little closer and you'll realise that this brown is actually the tree in ‘bloom’! 😍

We've been waiting all year for our Western sheoaks (Allocasuarina fraseriana) to start flowering, as it is quite the sight. The male trees produce hundreds of tiny inflorescences to produce this rusty look!

These graceful trees are pollinated by the wind. While the males are easy to spot at the moment with their blanket of brown, look for the still-green females nearby, complete with the pollinated cones that house the species' seeds.

It is definitely worth pausing under these needly trees as a gentle breeze ends up sounding like waves crashing on the beach in the right conditions. 🌳

She's got style, she's got grace... and she's also got a beautiful white face. 🤍

We might be channeling Miss Congeniality vibes lipstick with that intro, but we can't actually tell you whether this is a male or female white-faced heron (Egretta novaehollandiae)… it is very hard to tell the two sexes of this particular species apart!

These leggy beauties herons are regulars in the Park's wetlands, particularly around Horse Swamp. At around 70cm tall, they stand out too: their pale grey plumage, long yellow legs and that striking white face make them easy to identify. If you're lucky, you might spot one as they stalk and strike for prey amongst the waters: they feed on invertebrates, fish, frogs and even small reptiles!

With an extensive network (17km worth!) of shared-use paths winding through our banksia woodlands, there's plenty to explore - or work up a sweat - just like @‌swan.valley.runaways did. Keep an eye out and you might even spot grazing kangaroos or other native wildlife along the quieter trails. 🦘

Whether you're after a leisurely stroll, scenic hike, bike ride or a friendly sports match, there are plenty of ways to get active while enjoying Whiteman Park's beautiful natural surroundings.

🌿 Planning a visit to Whiteman Park? Here are five things to know before you go! 👇

🚗 1. Know where to find us
Located just 30 minutes from the Perth CBD near the Swan Valley, Whiteman Park is accessible by car, taxi, bus or train. On Weekends you can hop aboard the Weekend Shuttle bus from Whiteman Park Station into the Village at Whiteman Park.

🎟️ 2. Entry is free
There’s no general entry fee to visit Whiteman Park, although some attractions do have admission fees.

🔥 3. Leave the BBQ at home
With plenty of electric BBQs available across the Park’s picnic areas, there’s no need to bring your own. Solid fuel BBQs aren’t permitted.

🐾 4. Bring your furry friend
Whiteman Park is dog friendly! Your dog is welcome to explore the Park on a lead. Or you can head to the Dog Park to let them off the lead. Just remember to clean up after them and leave other pets at home.

⚽ 5. Pack your picnic and play gear
Bring your own equipment for a game or borrow select items like tennis rackets and soccer balls from the Visitor Information Centre. Just leave the hard balls at home.

Have you ever spotted one of these dainty beauties in the bush? They are part of the Drosera family - a group of insectivorous plants!

When you look closely at the red stalk of the pink rainbow (Drosera menziesii) you'll notice that each of the leaves have sticky-looking hairs. These glandular hairs are what this plant uses to attract and trap insects, which they then feed on.

The pink rainbow is one of several Drosera species found in Whiteman Park. Most Droseras flower white, but orange, pink and even red flowers can be seen across the eight species. Head to the Wunanga Trail for your best chance to see these delicate beauties as they flower from now through to November.

Mark your calendars for a day full of dog treats, toys and fun for your four-legged friends!

Excitingly, Doggies Day Out 2026 is just a few weeks away. Explore a range of pet products and services in a range of market stalls. Then enjoy paw printing, giveaways, food trucks and the best part (for us!)… the Doggie Competitions!

While it will be a big day out for your doggos, we’re also kicking the day off with a Quiet Hour for those who need it. Designed for sound-sensitive and anxious doggos, this low-sensory hour from 10am hopes to hush the hustle and there will be dog behavioural experts on hand too.

Then from 11am, it’s all on for a barking good day, including lots of fun for the whole family.
