🐬🌊 **Dolphins – All Abilities Surf Lifesaving!** 🌊🐬

Westminster Education Support Centre families, are you looking for a fun way to get active, enjoy the beach and build friendships?

Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club’s Dolphins program offers adapted surf lifesaving activities for participants of all abilities, catering for nippers, youth and masters.

With a qualified and experienced team, participants can develop beach, water and first aid skills, enjoy games and explore opportunities for competitions, social activities and community volunteering. 💚

📅 Saturdays, November 2026–March 2027

📍 Sorrento Beach, Perth

📚 Book Week at Westminster Education Support Centre! 📚

Our favourite book characters came to life as staff and students dressed up and joined in our whole school **Book Week parade! 🎉

It was wonderful to see the creativity, colourful costumes and big smiles as we celebrated the joy of reading and the stories that spark our imaginations. 💛

Thank you to our families and staff for helping make the day so special, and to our students for bringing their favourite characters to life! 🌟

🏉💙💛 West Coast Eagles Visit!💛💙🏉

Last week, we were very excited to welcome members of the West Coast Eagles to Westminster Education Support Centre for a special visit!

The highlight of the day was having their mascot 'Rick the Rock' come along to meet our students. 💙💛 Our students absolutely loved meeting Rick, and there were plenty of smiles, laughs and excitement throughout the visit!

Students and staff also had the opportunity to get involved in a fantastic football skills demonstration, joining in with a range of fun activities and having a go at developing their footy skills. 🏉

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, having fun and enjoying such a special experience together.

A huge thank you to the West Coast Eagles and Rick the Rock for taking the time to visit us and create such a memorable experience for our students! 🦅💙💛

Westminster Education Support Centre students will participate in our Jumps, Throws and Distance events on:

📅 Monday 24 August 2026

The top eight boys and girls from each year group have been selected to compete in the Jumps and Throws events. Families of invited students have been notified.

🌟 All students are invited to participate in the Distance event for their year group.

Approximate times:

🔹 8:50 am — Year 6
🔹 9:45 am — Year 5
🔹 11:05 am — Year 4
🔹 11:45 am — Year 3
🔹 12:25 pm — Year 2
🔹 1:45 pm — Year 1

Families are warmly invited to come along and cheer on our students! We look forward to a wonderful day of participation, determination and school spirit. ❤️💚💙

Students will take part in a fun-filled day including:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families and friends are warmly invited to come along and cheer on our students! Students may also join their families for lunch on the oval.

📚✨ Happy Principals’ Day, Carmen! ✨📚

This week we celebrated our incredible Principal, Carmen Lopez.

Carmen is a passionate advocate for students with disability and their families, working tirelessly to ensure every child feels supported, valued and empowered to achieve their full potential. Her commitment to holistic care means she sees and supports the whole child, fostering an environment where students, staff and families feel welcomed, respected and included.

As a strong and inspiring educator, Carmen leads with compassion, integrity and unwavering dedication. She continually goes above and beyond for our school community, championing the needs of others and inspiring those around her through her vision, positivity and commitment to excellence.

We are incredibly grateful to have Carmen as our Principal. Westminster Education Support Centre is a better place because of her leadership, advocacy and genuine care for our entire school community.

🌟 Free Interoception Training for Parents and Carers 🌟

Families are invited to attend an informative Interoception Training session presented by Larissa Muir, CEO of 12 Buckets.

Interoception is the ability to notice and understand signals from inside our bodies, such as hunger, emotions and physical sensations. Developing interoceptive awareness can be particularly beneficial for young people who are neurodivergent or have experienced trauma, supporting emotional regulation, self-awareness and wellbeing.

📍 Herb Graham Multicultural Centre – Rooms 1 and 2

The session will cover:

✨ Practical interoception activities
✨ Recognising signs of emotional overload
✨ Simple strategies for developing self-awareness
✨ Ways to foster belonging and empowerment

The training is provided by Communities for Children Mirrabooka. A $10 reservation fee is required and will be refunded following attendance, making the training free for participants. Please note that the reservation fee is non-refundable if you do not attend. The training is valued at $107 per person.

🏉⚽ Sports Team Free Dress Day Thursday 13 August 🏀🏐

Westminster Education Support Centre is excited to be joining the mainstream school's Sports Team Free Dress Day on Thursday 13 August!

Students are invited to come to school wearing their favourite sports team colours or sporting uniform. Whether it's AFL, NRL, soccer, netball, basketball, cricket or another favourite sport, we'd love to see everyone showing their team spirit.

Please note: There is no donation required for your child to participate.
