What are we watching this week? 🎥🎥🎥🎥

"Dolly Parton: Here I Am" directed by Francis Whately

With the recent passing of country music icon Dolly Parton, we're watching this 2019 documentary about her incredible life and music.

It's an entertaining watch featuring interviews with Dolly herself and friends from across her stellar career including Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

As always, Dolly's vivacious personality and her much-loved songs are major drawcards.

You might have heard about stunning Wembley Ware ceramics, but do you know the full story? 🌟🎤🍽️🐟🍵

Join presenter and History West volunteer Blume Gale at Cambridge Library on Tuesday 22 September at 10.00am for a fascinating insight into this locally made phenomenon.

While Wembley Ware ceased production in the 1960s, popularity of the beautiful fine china continues to grow.

A morning tea while be held on the day at the event along with a display of Wembley Ware pieces, courtesy of the Wembley Ware Society Inc, Cambridge Library and our patrons.

We're over the moon to welcome bestselling author Sasha Wasley to the Historical Fiction Panel at Cambridge Library on Friday 4 September at 6.00pm. 📚🎤🎉

On the night, Sasha will be joined by fellow celebrated authors Anthea Hodgson and Natasha Lester.

Born and raised in Boorloo (Perth), Sasha holds a PhD in feminist literature and is an advocate for literacy.

Set in 1920s Oxford University, Sasha's most recent novel - The Society of Literary Marauders - centres around four young women who make a secret pledge: ‘I hereby undertake to take and read any book kept away from nice young ladies.’

Full of intrigue, literary drama and the joy of rebellious female friendships, the book has been described as a complete joy from first page to last.

In addition to her contemporary and historical novels, Sasha writes young reader fiction and urban fantasy as Ash Harrier.

Since releasing here debut novel in 2015, Sasha's books have been shortlisted for the WA Premier's Award and international Golden Kites.

Don't miss this incredible evening with three amazing authors, brought to you by Cambridge Library in partnership with Boundless Books.

Just announced! 📣🎤 Cambridge Library will host The History of Wembley Ware event on Tuesday 22 September at 10.00am! 🍽️🐟🍵

Modelled here by one of our Local History Librarians, Wembley Ware was the name given to a range of ceramic figurines and functional items produced between the 1940s and early 1960s.

At the upcoming event, a volunteer from History West will offer a fascinating insight into the locally made and much-loved items.

Cambridge Library is excited to announce that the 2026 Teddy Bear's Picnic will be held at the stunning surrounds of the Quarry Amphitheatre on Thursday 8 October from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The fun and free community event will feature:

📖Storytelling
🎶Singing
🎸Live Music
🥳Face painting
🧜🏻‍♀️Mermaids

There will also be a coffee van at this year's event with freshly brewed drinks for sale! 🍵🥤
