πβ¨ Celebrating National Reconciliation Week at the Y East Cannington ELC! β¨π
This week, our little learners have been on a beautiful journey of discovery, connection, and creativity as we honoured National Reconciliation Week! π§‘ππ€β€οΈ
Here's a peek at what we've been up to:
π΄ The Aboriginal Flag β Our children explored the powerful symbolism behind the colours of the Aboriginal flag, then got their hands busy painting rocks in black, red, and yellow. A simple activity with such a meaningful message!
π¦ Birds & Dreaming Stories β We were captivated by "How the Birds Got Their Colours", a beautiful Dreaming story from the Bardi people of Broome. Inspired by its magic, the children created stunning bird collages using real feathers β each one as unique as the story itself!
πͺ Dot Painting & Paper Mache β Tiny hands got creative with traditional-style dot painting on boomerangs, and we even crafted our very own paper mache sea turtles. The concentration and care our children put into these was just wonderful to see!
π¦ Indigenous Animal Names Through Play β Did you know the word "kangaroo" has Indigenous origins? Our children have been learning the Indigenous names of beloved Australian native animals through fun, play-based exploration.
We are so proud of our children for approaching these experiences with open hearts and curious minds.
Reconciliation starts with learning, listening, and growing together β and that's exactly what our ELC community did this week. π
