Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established creative, this is your opportunity to showcase your work as part of one of WA’s most respected art awards.

This scholarship is an opportunity for young athletes aged 12 to 19 in the City of Melville to receive a free one-year membership to our LeisureFit Centres.

Explore the City’s interactive Urban Forest dashboard and see how Melville’s tree canopy is tracking over time.

This planting season, the City is planting 2,332 street trees and 3,907 trees in natural areas to help increase shade, cool areas and help grow our urban forest.

Tree planting plays an important role in increasing our tree canopy, which currently sits at 12.7%, with our target to reach 15% by 2036. Since 2022 tree canopy on public land has increased by 3.5%.

🌿 Every tree helps support a clean, green and sustainable City for current and future generations, in line with our Council Plan for the Future.

🌳 Have your say on Trees on Your Land

The City is seeking feedback on draft Local Planning Policy 1.24 – Regulated Trees on Private Land.

The draft policy looks at how medium and large trees on private land could be retained, removed or replaced in certain circumstances If adopted, the policy may mean:
🌿 Some tree removal or damaging activity requires approval
🪾 Exemptions may apply in certain circumstances
🪏 Replacement planting may be required where tree removal is approved

The draft policy is not final. We want to hear from everyone interested in the future of trees in Melville. Your feedback will help shape the next steps.

The City of Melville resolved at its Ordinary Meeting of Council held on 18 August 2026 to adopt two new Local Laws:
- City of Melville Fencing Amendment Local Law 2026.
- City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026.

The purpose of the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026 is to amend the City of Melville Cat Local Law 2025. The effect of the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026 is to remove the reversal of onus of proof and to ensure that the City of Melville Cat Local Law 2025 is compliant with requirements of the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation.

The purpose of the City of Melville Fencing Amendment Local Law 2026 is to amend the City of Melville Fencing Local Law 2025. The effect of the City of Melville Fencing Amendment Local Law 2026 is to provide clarity to the public on the requirements for “sight triangles” under subclause 3.1(2) and to ensure that the City of Melville Fencing Local Law 2025 is compliant with the requirements of the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation.

Copies of these local laws are available on the City of Melville website, or hard copies can be obtained at the City of Melville Civic Centre, 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

MelSafe officers are stepping out in Willagee 👋

You may notice MelSafe officers doing more foot patrols around Willagee over the coming weeks.

These patrols are being introduced in response to community feedback, following an increase in reports and concerns raised by local residents. We heard that the community wanted to see more visible, on-the-ground support, so that’s what we’re doing.

Foot patrols are a great way to complement our regular vehicle patrols, giving officers more opportunities to speak with residents, listen to concerns and provide reassurance in the community.

If you see our MelSafe officers out and about in Willagee, please come and say hello, ask questions or share any local concerns.
