Last week we welcomed student leaders from 8 local primary schools to attend a leadership workshop held in our library. Students were split into groups and under the guidance of our student councillors, they worked to complete different tasks throughout the day including creating a timeline from 40 different images and a silent lego challenge where each person had an individual responsibility and had to communicate without speaking.

The students all worked well, stayed engaged and were exceptionally courteous to all staff, Kent Street students and their peers. It was a delight to host them!

Thank you:
Lathlain Primary, Como Primary, Kensington Primary, Millen Primary, South Perth Primary, Vic Park primary, Collier Primary and East Vic Park primary.

On Monday, our Year 11 students took a trip to the theatre to watch Barking Gecko's performance of 'The Stones', giving them the rare opportunity to watch a professional production of the same script they were performing for assessment that week.
They also took part in a Q&A with the performers, gaining insight into acting processes and building a career in The Arts. Student feedback was incredibly positive, with many saying the performance inspired refinement of their own work including the expression of line delivery and purposeful movement around the stage.
Students also reflected on the importance of themes like peer pressure and the consequences of actions, which hit even harder after seeing them performed live.

Thank you to Barking Gecko Arts for this amazing opportunity; we rate 'The Stones' 5/5 Academy Awards!

Kent Street Senior High School Duke of Edinburgh students completed their Adventurous Journey during Week 3 of this term. The group consisted of upper school students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh program. The Adventurous Journey involved a number of hikes along the stunning south coast near Denmark.

Day 1 consisted of a loop hike along sections of the Bibbulmun Track, beginning at Lights Beach and heading towards Greens Pool before returning. The group completed a total distance of approximately 16 kilometres. Students demonstrated great teamwork and resilience while navigating the coastal terrain and changing weather conditions.

Day 2 began with a very foggy morning, with the group tackling several steep hills before reaching the start of the Wilderness Ocean Walk. From there, students once again followed sections of the Bibbulmun Track towards Lights Beach and back, covering close to 20 kilometres for the day. Despite the challenging conditions and long distances, the group maintained a positive attitude and supported one another throughout the journey.

To finish off the evening, the group enjoyed a small viewing party where they watched the Fremantle Dockers defeat Hawthorn 💜
