What a wonderful morning attending the Dickson Seniors' Morning Tea and spending time with so many members of our community.

Our team was proud to be there sharing information about our services, connecting with local residents, and showcasing some of our delicious meals. Events like these provide fantastic opportunities to engage with the Moreton Bay community, learn about their needs, and ensure they are aware of the support available to help them remain independent and connected.

At Meals on Wheels Moreton Bay Region, we are committed to being out in the community, advocating for older Australians and promoting services that enhance wellbeing, independence, and social connection.

🌟 National Meals on Wheels Day Celebrations 🌟

Today, our Meals on Wheels services across the Moreton Bay Region proudly celebrated National Meals on Wheels Day bringing together volunteers, staff, and community members.

Each of our services marked the occasion in their own special way, hosting morning teas and lunches that brought volunteers and community members together to connect, share stories, and celebrate the important role Meals on Wheels Moreton Bay Region plays in supporting older Australians to remain independent in their own homes.
These celebrations were a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible people who give their time, care, and compassion to support our clients every day.

A special thank you to our teams at each service for organising these celebrations. We genuinely love any opportunity to come together, strengthen our connections, and celebrate the amazing community that makes Meals on Wheels such a special organisation.

We were also delighted to welcome some special guests, with Ali France MP visiting our Pine Rivers service and Katie from the office of Shane King MP joining the celebrations at Burpengary. Thank you for taking the time to celebrate with our volunteers and community.

To all our volunteers, staff and community members, thank you for everything you do. Your kindness and dedication help us deliver so much more than a meal. You deliver friendship, support, and a sense of belonging.

Recently, Meals on Wheels Pine Rivers proudly marked 50 years of service to our community. It was a wonderful occasion that brought together volunteers, team members, community leaders, supporters, sponsors, and friends to reflect on five decades of delivering not just meals, but care, connection, and kindness.

Our celebration was a reminder that what makes Meals on Wheels so special is the people behind it. From our dedicated volunteers who give their time so generously, to our supporters and community partners who help make our service possible, this achievement belongs to all of you. 💙

A huge thank you to the wonderful team from Medibank for spending the day volunteering at our Pine Rivers service! 💙

The team's visit was all about connecting with the community, gaining a better understanding of the important work of Meals on Wheels Moreton Bay Region, and learning more about the needs of the people we support every day.

Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves, helping with kitchen duties and joining our drivers to deliver nutritious meals to members of the community. Their enthusiasm, compassion, and willingness to get involved made a real difference.

🌿 Meals on Wheels Pine Rivers – 50 Years of Community Care & Connection 🌿

As we approach our 50th anniversary celebration event, we reflect with pride on the remarkable journey of our Pine Rivers service—how it began with a simple idea and grew into a vital community service supporting so many local residents over five decades.

In August 1975, Bob Bell brought to the attention of members of the Rotary Club of Pine Rivers the growing need for a Meals on Wheels service in the district. From that moment, initial planning and organisational work began, led by Bob, his Rotary Ann Marj, and dedicated members of the Rotary Club.

With strong community spirit, the service officially began to take shape, and on 28 April 1976, a key milestone was reached with initial planning and organisational work being held at the Pine River Lions Club, Lions Hall, Lawnton. From there, support quickly grew—local service clubs, schools, PC&Cs, and churches of all denominations came together, united by a shared commitment to care for those in need.

The initial service supported just 12 people, with the very first meals delivered on 2 August 1976—a small beginning that marked the start of something truly lasting for the Pine Rivers community.

Over the years, countless volunteers, staff, and community members have contributed to what Meals on Wheels Pine Rivers has become today—a trusted service built on kindness, connection, and compassion.

We also honour the late Annette Haynes, whose personal recollections and reflections help preserve the story of our early beginnings and the spirit of those who helped shape this legacy.

As we celebrate this 50-year milestone, we invite you to join us in honouring our past, recognising the dedication of our community and celebrating the incredible service we have become today.
