Last night, the Southern Highlands Communications Brigade held its 2026 Annual General Meeting. The Election of Officers has resulted in several changes within the Executive. Congratulations are extended to those members elected for the first time, and sincere thanks are offered to those who were not successful for their continued service and commitment.

In his report, the District Manager, Supt Daniel Osborne, commended all members for their efforts over the past twelve months in successfully unifying the two former Communications Brigades into a single, cohesive unit. He also noted that, while significant progress has been made, considerable work remains as we prepare for the upcoming fire season.

Supt Osborne also presented four Members with the Premiers Flood Emergency Citation for response to the major NSW floods in 2022 and 2023

As daylight saving ends and we gain an extra hour, it’s a great opportunity to take a moment for home fire safety. It is important to check your smoke alarms to ensure they’re working properly.

It’s crucial your home has working smoke alarms, as they provide an early warning and give you and your family valuable time to escape during a house fire.

With the cooler months approaching, please stay safe this winter. There are several simple steps you can take, such as creating a home escape plan, ensuring your smoke alarm is working and keeping all items at least a meter from the heater.

Extreme Fire Danger Rating & Total Fire Ban Declared | Wednesday 26 November

Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across most of the state, with widespread areas of Extreme fire danger including for the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas.

Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Report all
fires without a fire truck in attendance to Triple Zero (000) immediately.
