📦 Garage Sale 📦

With our upcoming move looming over us and with the generous grant Murray Districts Playgroup received to purchase new equipment, we are hosting a two day garage sale to sell off items playgroup no longer has a need for or can no longer store at the new premises.
Some of our beloved equipment is coming with us; however, the grant has enabled us to refresh our toys cupboard and give our children some new play experiences. All the proceeds from our sale of past toys, furniture and kitchen utensils will go directly back into the playgroup for future costs. We have a range of old and newer items available, all with plenty of life left to live.
Prices range from FREE to only $50.

Our sale is open to members, non-members, community groups, other playgroups, and the wider public. If you have kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, babysitter young kids or just want some sand toys for yourself (no judgment), then come on down and check out what we have on offer!

Cash and card payment accepted. 💰

With only two weeks left of Term 2, our enrolments will be closing. If you’re new and wanting to pop in for a visit, you are still most welcome. All new families receive two free trial sessions and you are not required to fill out enrolments for these. If you enjoy yourself during the trials, you would simply enrol for Term 3 when it opens 😊

This also means it is our final two sessions in our Forrest St site. Once the last session is done we’ll be busy packing, sorting, cleaning, and transporting all our belongings to Austin Lakes Common. We have a lot of work to do but we’ll be ready to go for Week 1, Term 3! ✨

This week week was our ‘Farmyard Friends’ theme and what a fun time we all had feeding our cup animals. It is with great sadness that we share the horse and a chicken did not survive the session, having been overfed and having their faces separated from the cup. In good news, it meant the children had whole cups to scoop and pour with when feeding the other animals. 🐄🐥

Only a few more weeks to go before we start packing! Keep an eye out on our socials for information regarding the upcoming garage sale and details on how you can help move to the new premises.

We are open tomorrow! 🐥 🐄

We have a ‘feed the animal’ scooping tray for the tots this week, a feathery chicken craft inside, and some coloured noodles for the bubs to explore. Again, the noodles aren’t really theme related but it’s always a hit, so why not? 🤷‍♀️

Our playground and swings have been transported to their new home so the yard will look a little different, but in good news it means some of us with swing set loving children will get a break from having to stand in one corner of the yard the whole session. Silver linings.

If you’re considering putting your hand up for the president role in 2027 but are worried about the work load, I wouldn’t stress too much about it. The current president has trained the committee to be at her beck and call and can teach you the art of delegation before you officially take over.

It’s Volunteer Week ❤️

Cheers to those who put their hand up for a role - whether it’s big or small. From mopping the floor, to helping at a sausage sizzle, to being head of the committee - you are what keeps Murray Districts Playgroup alive and thriving.
There are many ways to volunteer and we are always looking for more helping hands. Whether you want to be a committee member and help plan our future or just want to quietly pack away toys at the end of the session, we need your help. Happy Volunteer Week ❣️

‼️ Big News ‼️
At our previous meeting our darling president and loved treasurer announced their intentions to step down from their roles in October this year. Both members have been incredibly dedicated to our playgroup since taking on their roles a few years ago but with older kids now in school, they’d like to start turning their attention to new chapter in their children’s lives. Or they’re utterly sick of working with the current enrolments officer and secretary, and want out of the executive committee for some peace and quiet. They say it’s the first reason - I strongly suspect it’s the second.

Either way, it now means we are on the hunt for a new:
✨President
✨Treasurer/Enrolments officer

You’ll note that we’ve added enrolments in there and there is a good reason for that: enrolments and treasurer go hand-in-hand and it makes sense to combine the roles again as we had in previous years.
In GOOD NEWS, Kym and Emily R have already done the hard yards in setting up our transition to the new premises AND are sticking around next year to ‘shadow’ their replacement people. We do not intend for anyone to be left feeling like their floundering in a new role so they’ll be running along beside you until you’re ready to be independent.
The move to the new location and the introduction of our website has made both roles much simpler. Playgroup may be giving Kym grey hairs early with the stress of getting sheds built, equipment ordered, and new hire agreements signed but your hair will be safe because it’ll all be done by October.
The general committee and the executive committee are a team so the workload is shared amongst several people. We promise it sounds more scary than it actually is once you get started. Check out the descriptions below to see what each roles requires. We encourage you to come chat in person, email or message the page if you have any questions/are interested in one of the roles.

Playgrounds must be at a premium out here because OH BOY, we were not prepared for how keen everyone would be for our playground. We are happy to announce that it is currently considered sold to a family who will give it a new life with their own children; however, for those who commented/messaged we have kept a list for ‘next inline’ incase it does fall through.

Next time I post something for sale at such a good price, I’ll do it later in the day when my brain is better able to keep up with the comments and messages. 😅 Thanks for the support, everyone! ❤️
