🩵💙 STAGE 3 BLUE 💙🩵

Stage 3 Blue have been on a roll lately! We kicked things off with a fun visit from Healthy Harold 🦒 , who had everyone laughing and learning. In drama 🎭 , the students brought big personality to their Live Postcards and strutted their stuff down the Character Runway. We also joined in National Simultaneous Storytime, turning 'Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller' into creative writing from a whole new character’s point of view writing 🦘⚽️ . In English, students have been busy making their own multimodal masterpieces - posters, podcasts, physical presentations. They even squeezed in some science, exploring the wild world of natural disasters with plenty of curiosity 🌋 🌊

LIFE EDUCATION

Our students have been busy growing their health and personal development skills with the help of Healthy Harold and Life Education educators, Chris and Sam. They’ve been learning what it means to be a good friend, how to stay safe online, and how to make positive choices that support healthy lifestyles and relationships.

☔️ FRIDAY WRAP UP ☔️

Our final week of May has been full of learning, reflection and fun at Point Clare PS.

Students engaged deeply with National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week, taking time to reflect, learn and strengthen our commitment to walking together with respect and understanding. We also joined schools across the country for National Simultaneous Storytime.

Harold the Giraffe made his much‑anticipated return for Life Education, always a favourite with students (and teachers!) as they explored healthy choices, decision‑making and positive friendships.

Our Year 6 debating team continued to impress with their confidence, teamwork and strong arguments, achieving a win against Woy Woy PS, arguing against the topic “everyone should be required to complete 40 minutes of exercise at the start of the school day”.

Stage 3 students brought energy and creativity to the classroom during drama lessons as they experimented with character, movement and improvisation.

Wishing all families a cosy and dry weekend.

Our senior boys and girls basketball teams participated in the PSSA Gala Day at Niagara Park Stadium. Both teams demonstrated excellent skill, teamwork and, above all, outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.
The boys team won 2 out of their 3 games, while the girls team won 1 out of 3 games. Congratulations to Team Point Clare on their efforts and achievements, and a big thank you to the parents who assisted with scoring on the day.

Today Point Clare Public School participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime. Schools and libraries around Australia, New Zealand and even the world come together each year in May to read the same book at the same time to celebrate the value of reading and storytelling. This year we were excited to be reading the book ‘Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller’ written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd.
ES1 & S1 students made Luna Roo headbands and soccer jerseys to wear to the shared reading celebration in the hall.
Our school library has an amazing collection of books available for the students to help foster their love of reading. Mrs McCabe and Mrs McCahon are always available to help your child find a book to spark their interest in reading.

National Sorry Day is held annually on 26 May to remember and
acknowledge the Stolen Generations – the Aboriginal children forcibly removed from their families, communities, Country, language and culture under previous government policies.

Students reflected on this and took part in activities. S3 Red discussed what National Sorry Day is before viewing a video titled 'From Sorry to Action'. Students then completed a writing task to share their knowledge. S2 Blue engaged with a reading by Kirli Saunders, a Gunai woman. Her text 'Our Dreaming' will be studied by the stage later this year.
