Port Broughton CFS vehicles presented in all their Xmas glory. Thanks Sam and Jade for your decorating.
We spent Wednesday training night detailing both trucks for the parade, only to get 2 large crop fires in nearby Mundoora.
Trucks got their 2nd wash Friday night. Always the way!🤣

Burn-over drills complete for 2025

All operational firefighters have to complete Skills Maintenance Drills 1 + 2 each year in preparation for the fire season.

Our vehicles have sprays that cover the cabin and protect the tyres in the event that an emergency “burn over” occurs

Other procedures practiced include emergency radio communication, foil blind deployment in the cabin and operating breathing masks in the cabin.

Hopefully, we won’t need these skills, but we practice for the worst.

Please be advised that, as Chief Officer of the South Australian Country Fire Service, I have consulted with the local Bushfire Management Committees and, based on their recommendations - together with current weather forecasts, soil moisture levels, fuel curing assessments, and predicted fire behaviour for the coming season - I have determined that the Fire Danger Season will be gazetted for the following six districts as outlined below:

Flinders Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 15 April 2026
Lower South East Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026
Mid North Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026
North East Pastoral Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 15 April 2026
North West Pastoral Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 15 April 2026
Yorke Peninsula Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026
The following dates have been previously gazetted:

Lower Eyre Peninsula Fire Ban District – 15 November 2025 to 15 April 2026
Murraylands Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026
Riverland Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026
Upper South East Fire Ban District – 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026
West Coast Fire Ban District – 15 October 2025 to 15 April 2026
The Fire Danger Season commencement and conclusion dates for the remaining three Fire Ban Districts will be announced in the coming weeks following the completion of the consultation process.

These dates have been determined to reflect the prevailing and forecast conditions, ensuring an appropriate level of preparedness and protection for our communities throughout the 2025–26 fire season.

Kind Regards,

Port Broughton took delivery of a new 34P today.

The new Port Broughton 34P is based on a 2021 Isuzu FTS 139-260 chassis, is 4 x 4 and carries 3000 litres of water.

Built by Fraser Fire and Rescue, it is fitted with a Deutz BF4L2011W motor / Darley HE500 pump.

It includes additional safety features to protect firefighters, including a halo system (water deluge system) and an in-cab breathing system.

It comes fitted with an LED light bar and Engel fridge, and equipped with battery powered tools - including a Stihl chainsaw and a Ramfan Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fan.

It replaces the 21 year old Isuzu based Port Broughton 24P, which will be sent to another brigade.

Thanks Dean Norman for the photo.
