The Environment, Resources and Development Committee is holding a public hearing at Parliament House in the Balcony Room:

• Monday, 7 September 2026: 9:15am – approximately 4:00pm
*Please note in-person seating is limited and is first come-first served. There is no guarantee of a seat.

The hearing will form part of the inquiry into matters relating to the National Trust of South Australia (NTSA). This includes investigating the NTSA’s governance and organisational structure, as well as the operation, effectiveness and relevance of the National Trust of South Australia Act 1955.

The Committee will also examine the NTSA’s management and preservation of heritage assets, the role of volunteers and community stakeholders, and the impact of organisational and governance issues on regional communities.

While his road as PM was rocky, I had the great privilege of meeting him in 2012 at the Skoll World Forum in Oxford. One of the best dinners I’ve ever had in terms of robust and respectful conversations. While I had also met his predecessor ( Sydney future leaders forum) I found him genuinely passionate about making a difference, encouraging this country kid to stand!

These kind of salaries are unsustainable- just “upping them” because of a timing loophole is unconscionable. I’m sorry but when so many people are struggling with the cost of living crisis- I think performances need to be pretty extraordinary to earn $400k

🚗 Did you know that several states and territories have made changes to their Patient Assisted Travel Schemes to help ease the burden of travelling for medical care?

For many rural Australians, getting to can mean travelling hundreds of kilometres and having to spend a lot of money along the way.

Our latest updated fact sheet brings together information from every state and territory as of July 2026, including eligibility, support for carers and escorts, and provisions for patients travelling for radical treatment.

Here's some good news from a few states and territories making improvements to their schemes:

📍 Northern Territory - reduced distance thresholds and increased vehicle and accommodation subsidies
📍 Queensland and Tasmania - increased private vehicle travel rates
📍 South Australia - provides better accommodation support
