🧗 ROOF SAFETY SYSTEMS TRAINING | PORT LINCOLN SES 🧡

Another busy Wednesday night with two teams working across the Port Lincoln SES compound.

🏠 Five of our new recruits continued their Roof Safety Systems training, developing the skills and knowledge required to safely operate at height.

🔧 Meanwhile, another team put those skills into practice, removing plastic sheeting that had been used to cover skylights and whirlybird roof ventilators for last weekend’s CFS Breathing Apparatus training, involving volunteers from across the region.

🚁 The West Operations Support Unit Remotely Piloted Aircraft Team (RPAS) assisted with an overhead assessment of the roof, helping identify hazards, assess risks and plan the safest approach before members accessed the area.

Once underway, the RPAS team continued to provide overwatch and additional lighting, supporting situational awareness for members working both on the roof and on the ground.

A great night combining new recruit development, skills refreshers, teamwork, risk assessment and RPAS capability in a practical training environment. 👏🧡

🚨 Throwback to training 12 months ago! 🚨

Port Lincoln SES members tackled a night-time general rescue scenario at the BMX track, treating and securing a casualty before carrying them safely across the challenging terrain.

A great night of teamwork, communication and practical rescue skills. 🧡💪

🌏 PORT LINCOLN SES ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE! 🚨🧡

Awesome to see Port Lincoln State Emergency Service and our training being featured on the international stage by Ruth Lee Ltd!

A huge thank you to Ruth Lee for their ongoing support of volunteer emergency and rescue organisations around the world through their Volunteer Heroes Fund.

Port Lincoln SES was fortunate to be selected as one of their International Volunteer Heroes, in 2018 receiving a Man Overboard Manikin and Youth Duty Manikin to complement and enhance our training. 🚤🛟⛑️

These training manikins allow our volunteers to undertake realistic scenarios across a range of rescue disciplines and continue developing the skills we need when responding to real emergencies.

It’s fantastic to see our volunteers, our training and Port Lincoln, South Australia 🇦🇺 being showcased internationally. 🌏

Many thanks to Ruth Lee Ltd for continuing to recognise and support the incredible work undertaken by volunteers around the world. 🧡👏

🔧 Maintenance Night at Port Lincoln SES 🚨

Last night, our members conducted a maintenance night, running and checking all our small engines and working within our recently established vehicle teams.

This team-based approach allows members to manage and monitor the equipment carried on each vehicle while giving our newer recruits the opportunity to become familiar with it under the guidance of experienced members.

Any faults or concerns are reported to our Operations Response Manager for follow-up.

To reward our members for their consistent training and attendance at requests for assistance, we finished the evening with hot dogs and a relaxed catch-up. 🌭

A big thank you to Coles Bakery and Drakes Supermarkets for their generous donations of rolls and other supplies, our members certainly enjoyed them!

🧡 A great day at the Port Lincoln Show!

The weather forecast had us guessing, but after a light sprinkle while setting up, the wind stayed away and Port Lincoln turned on a fantastic day. 🙌

Our Port Lincoln SES and West Operations Support Unit volunteers enjoyed meeting plenty of people, answering questions and chatting with some potential new recruits.

Check out a few photos from ground level and a bird’s-eye view captured by the West Ops drone team! 🚁📸
