🧑 Building Skills On and Off the Water βš“πŸš€

Last night's training saw our marine rescue members on the water sharpening their skills with towing exercises, vessel inductions, rafting, mooring techniques and night-time vessel operations. πŸš€βš“πŸŒ™

At the same time, our newer recruits continued progressing through their SES Toolkit training, developing the knowledge, skills and safety awareness required before attending operational incidents and Requests for Assistance. πŸ“šβœ…

Whether on the water or in the classroom, every training night helps ensure our volunteers are ready to respond when the community needs us most. 🚨

🚨🧑 National First Responders Day at Port Lincoln Junior Primary School 🧑🚨

Today, Port Lincoln SES joined fellow first responders from Lincoln CFS, Fisheries, South Australia Police and SA Ambulance Service for a special thankyou breakfast and two Q&A sessions from the students at Port Lincoln Junior Primary School as part of National First Responders Day.

Students and staff provided a warm welcome, including a moving welcome to Country that was also presented in sign language. We then spent time answering questions about our roles and sharing what it means to serve the community.

A highlight of the morning was a heartfelt video created by the students and staff thanking first responders for the work they do.

It was a humbling and emotional reminder of the strong connection between emergency services and the communities we serve.

πŸ‘ Thank you to everyone at Port Lincoln Primary School for your hospitality, kindness and support. It was an honour to be part of such a special event.

🚨 TREE DOWN RESPONSE – CHARLTON GULLY 🚨

Port Lincoln SES volunteers responded this morning to a Priority 1 request after a tree branch partially blocked Charlton Gully Road.

🌳 While this was a relatively small obstruction, even minor hazards can cause drivers to brake suddenly or swerve, increasing the risk of an accident. Early intervention helps keep our roads safe.

πŸ‘ It was also great to see one of our newest recruits attend his first Priority 1 incident, gaining valuable experience alongside our experienced volunteers.

Issued 10:52am Tuesday 2 June 2026

Abnormally high tides for the South Australian coastline

Weather Situation: A deep low-pressure system to the south tracks eastward moving over the Bass Strait today, bringing strong to gale-force westerly winds and elevated sea levels.

* Unusually high tides are dangerous to swimmers, surfers and rock fishers. Stay away from coastal areas until conditions subside.

* Know your limitations around beaches, tidal rivers and creeks. Monitor warnings and conditions. Supervise children at all times.

* If you have a moored boat or watercraft, check that your mooring and lines are secure.

* Be aware that unusually high tides could cause flooding at the coast.
