๐€๐ฎ๐ฌ๐€๐ฅ๐ž๐ซ๐ญ is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.
It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches the system is being tested in communities across Australia.
It is being tested in ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐‹๐ข๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ง at ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ:๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐š๐ฆ on ๐’๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”. Your mobile device such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches may recieve a test alert.
It will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.
You don't need to do anything but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert to keep yourself and ohters safe.

Community leaders and organisations, groups and club representatives in Port Lincoln are invited to attend an upcoming AusAlert information session on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

AusAlert is Australiaโ€™s new national emergency alerting system, designed to deliver clearer and more consistent emergency warnings. Port Lincoln has been selected to take part in a Communityโ€‘based Trial on 20 June, ahead of the national AusAlert test in July.

To help organisations, groups and clubs understand what AusAlert is, how the trial will work, and what it means for the people you support, SAFECOM, in partnership with the City of Port Lincoln and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is hosting three free information sessions at the Nautilus Arts Centre.

Session times:
๐Ÿ•’ 11.00am
๐Ÿ•’ 1.30pm
๐Ÿ•’ 6.00pm

Light catering provided.
Free to attend โ€“ registration required.

These interactive sessions are open to any interested organisation, group or club, including (but not limited to) government, emergency services, health and social services, community and volunteer groups, sporting and cultural organisations, education providers, businesses, service providers and community leaders.

We strongly encourage community leaders and representatives to attend one of the sessions and help share key information through your networks, so as many people as possible across our community are informed ahead of the national test in July.

Please share this post so we can reach as many community leaders and representatives across our local organisations, groups and clubs as possible.

Are you travelling this long weekend? ๐Ÿš—๐ŸŒŠ

If youโ€™re planning to head away, consider your risk and adjust your plans accordingly.
๐Ÿงญ Complete our simple 2 Minute Traveller Bushfire Plan and be prepared to change plans quickly
๐Ÿ”ฅ Check Fire Danger Ratings daily for your destination and travel route
๐Ÿ“ฑ Update your Alert SA Watch Zones to include all areas you are travelling to and through
๐Ÿ“ป Stay informed via the Alert SA app, local ABC or FIVEaa radio, or call the Information Hotline on 1800 362 361

Bushfires can start quickly and impact travel with little warning. Know the risk before you go and stay alert while youโ€™re away.

Understanding warnings can save lives.

CFS issues warnings DURING a bushfire so you understand what danger you're in and what you need to do to stay safe.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fires can start quickly and threaten homes and lives within minutes.
๐Ÿ”ฅYou should never wait to receive an official warning before you leave.
๐Ÿ”ฅWarnings can come in any order, and the first one you receive could be an Emergency Warning.

There are 3 levels of warnings. Know the warning levels so you can act fast:

๐ŸŸก Advice โ€“ stay informed
๐ŸŸ  Watch and Act โ€“ start taking action
๐Ÿ”ด Emergency Warning โ€“ act immediately

Learn what each warning means so you already know what to do when you receive one.

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš— If caught in fire when on the road: Park behind a solid structure to block the fire's heat or pull over to cleared area.
Try to position the car towards the approaching fire. Turn on your hazard lights and headlights. Close all windows. Turn off the air-conditioning and shut all the air vents.
Turn your car engine off. Get down as low as possible below window level and cover up with a pure woollen blanket. ๐Ÿš’
