Today's small business highlight is L-Bo Butchery in West Kempsey.

Young gun Sam Thompson took over the reins at L-Bo back in March of 2021 when he was just 23 years old and has taken the well-loved shop from strength to strength.

The L-Bo team consists of Sam, Gus, Zaiyn & Lachlan. And that's it! 4 young blokes working hard, running a tight ship and selling some of the best meat in the country.
So good to see. Congratulations, lads. You do a stellar job.

SMALL BUSINESS SHOUT OUT: OLD BUTTER FACTORY CAFE☕️🫖🥧
Spring has sprung and it's officially outdoor café weather! So today's small biz highlight goes to Old Butter Factory Cafe, Bellingen.

Family owned and run by Dan & Sophie (and newest addition, baby Jax), this picturesque space is a slice of heaven and history combined. Dating back to the early 1900s, the site has been lovingly restored and now seamlessly blends its industrial heritage with modern amenities, offering a unique space for events, weddings & a range of local artisan shops.

I make a coffee pit stop here each time I'm in Bello. Special thanks to the team for allowing me to hold mobile offices on site as well! Legends.

Virtual Reality experiences have come a long way over the past few years, and Luminary VR offers the latest tech in a safe and fun environment.

Opening the doors last December, owner Dean Muggleton wanted to bring an experience that was previously only available in major cities to the Coffs Coast.
Players can feel the difference of Free Roam VR and dive into exciting, action-packed adventures. Choose from a variety of games, where you’ll test your survival skills and explore new worlds — all in a fully immersive virtual environment.

And it's not just for kids and able-bodied people. Nan and Pop can absolutely get involved.

SMALL BUSINESS SHOUT OUT: BLACK DUCK BREWERY🦆🍺🍸
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the newly refurbed Black Duck Brewery, and the experience didn't disappoint!

Thoughtfully revamped by new owners Tim and Mel, this family run gem is well worth the quick trip to Acacia Ave in Port's industrial area.

Serving up a variety of beer carefully made on site and a wide range of cocktail options, the updated space provides a warm and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy your favourite tipple. And the on-site food truck has eats covered too.

The Black Duck team will be at the Sovereign Hills Port Macquarie Twilight Tastings this Saturday from 3-7pm as well, along with over 25 other local food and beverage producers. Head on down for free tastings and support local!

CWA STALL OPEN AND READY FOR BUSINESS🍰📚
If you are shopping at Park Beach Plaza today, be sure to stop by the Country Womens Association stall in front of Sportsgirl.
Ros and her passionate team of volunteers have set up shop with their delicious range of preserves, cook books, tea towels and more in order to raise funds for rural health services.

The CWA's Rural Health Action Plan is calling for:
👩‍⚕️Every rural community to have access to a local GP and flexible team-based primary healthcare
🤰Restoring maternity services so more women can give birth closer to home
✈️Building permanent rural health workforces rather than relying on costly short-term locum doctors
🗣Giving local communities a greater voice in decisions about their health services
👨‍⚖️Establishing an independent Rural Health Commissioner to improve accountability
🚑Better integration between hospitals, general practice, councils and community health services.

All the things that regional communities need and deserve!

SEPTEMBER SOCIAL MEDIA TAKEOVER: SMALL BUSINESS SHOUT OUTS
Small businesses are the backbone of regional communities. They provide our goods and services, employ us, train our young people and more often than not, they’re family owned and run. Every small business adds to the tapestry of what makes our towns so unique!

But let’s face it, it’s never been tougher to run a small business than it is at the moment. Rising input costs and a never ending administrative burden has put the squeeze on so many businesses right across our electorate.

So, this September is Small Business Month on my social media pages, with a new business highlighted and celebrated each day. Let’s all make the effort to shop and support local as much as possible.

And to every small business owner, can I just say ‘thank you’. Thank you for showing up every day, for taking the risks and for supporting our communities. You do an amazing job.
