FINAL FAREWELL TO A TRUE KEMPSEY ICON - LOU KESBY
Grateful to have had the opportunity to attend Lou's funeral service today at the All Saints Catholic Church in Kempsey alongside so many members of our close knit community. The numbers in attendance were a true testament to Lou's impact on the Macleay and a fitting mark of respect for a local legend.
'Sopranos Corner' won't be the same again, but your legacy will live on.
RIP Lou Kesby.

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME, HASTINGS SECONDARY COLLEGE!
Great to be able to visit the school leaders at both the Westport and Port Macquarie campuses of Hastings Secondary College this month.

Having the opportunity to answer questions from our next generation of leaders is a real privilege, and being able to have a look at how our local schools are expanding, adapting and improving their facilities is so inspiring to see.

We are lucky to have the range of educational opportunities on offer in our beautiful coastal electorate, and Hasting Secondary Colleges are the perfect examples of that. I have to say, the view from the Port Macquarie campus today was pretty unbeatable as well.

A special 'thank you' to College Principal Meaghan Cook for the invitation and the tour of both campuses. For those who aren't aware, Meaghan is herself an 'old girl' having finished high school at the Port Macquarie campus 'back in the day', and her pride in how far the school has come since that time is genuinely infectious. And she's absolutely right, there's a lot to be proud of!

⛑THANK A FIRST RESPONDER DAY🙏
Today is the official 'thank a first responder' day in the calendar, but let's be fair, that should really be every day of the year!

Because every day, our local first responders selflessly dedicate their time and so often put their bodies on the line to protect our communities and keep us safe.

What is seen cannot be unseen, what is heard cannot be unheard, and the toll that emergency response can take both physically and mentally can be immense. Today is the day to recognise that and thank not only our local crews but also their families.

It was great to personally visit so many of our local first responders in the past couple of days to express my gratitude on behalf of our electorate.

So, let's give a big 'THANK YOU' to our Police, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors, RFS, SES, Surf Lifesavers & Marine Rescue Teams. And an extra special 'thank you' to every one of the volunteers that donate their time so generously!

VALE LOU KESBY: FAREWELL TO A LOCAL KEMPSEY LEGEND
I was saddened to hear of Lou's passing over the long weekend, and my thoughts go out to Kathy and his family for their loss.
Colourful character, culinary king, community champion and former Deputy Mayor, Lou and his famous Cafe have been an iconic part of Kempsey's social fabric for decades. Lou created a space that quickly became the community's meeting place and spot to find a comforting bite to eat in a comfy corner. The Conaghan's have made some great family memories there thanks to Lou!
Always up for a chat and ready to offer a hand or some advice, if you wanted to get the lay of the land at any given time, Lou was your man.
A mentor and great friend, he will live on in the hearts of many.
Vale Lou. You will be missed.
