Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service (PMAWS)

Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service (PMAWS) PMAWS is a not for profit NSW Government registered charity. We are dedicated to the welfare of domestic animals in the Port Macquarie area and surrounds.

RBN R251000067 Port Macquarie Animal Welfare Service (PMAWS) is a NSW Government registered charity. It is a non-profit group, dedicated to the welfare of domestic animals in the Port Macquarie/Hastings area and beyond. We help abused, abandoned and unwanted animals and rely heavily on invaluable assistance from donations, fundraising, foster carers and voluntary workers. Our group, PMAWS, aims to

help create a community where every pet has a permanent loving home, every companion animal is desexed - as a precaution to limit breeding cycles - and where all animals are treated with respect and compassion. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world! Some members have extended their commitment to animal welfare far beyond their own lifetime by making a deferred gift to PMAWS in their wills or estate plans. The members pay tribute to those individuals whose spirit of caring endures into the future. One of the most important aspects of our welfare group is that we have a no-kill policy. No animal will ever be euthanised unless too ill to respond to veterinary treatment, and only under veterinary advice. Our cats and dogs are not kept in pens or cages, they live with our foster carers until they are adopted and placed in their new permanent home - no matter how long it takes, and currently do have a number of long term cats in care. We aim to find the best home for our cats and dogs, not the first one. Our regular Cat & Kitten Adoption Day is held on the second Saturday of the month at Petbarn on Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie, between 10 am and 2 pm. We invite members of the community who are interested in adopting a cat or kitten to come along and see all our animals available for adoption. Animals are a life-long commitment. If you aren't able to commit to a pet for their lifetime but still want to have that connection, maybe foster caring is something you could consider. Please have a chat to Leonie or any of our friendly volunteers if you think this may be something you can help us with. We are always in need of foster carers to look after the animals until they find their forever homes. The more carers we have, the more cats and kittens, dogs and puppies we can save. Many of our cats and dogs come from death row in local pounds, or are surrendered by families who are no longer able to care for their family pets. Often, elderly people have to surrender their pets when they go into retirement villages or nursing homes, or if the pet becomes too hard to look after. PMAWS is run without any government funding so obviously fundraising is extremely important for our survival. Anyone interested in animal welfare is welcome to join our team and help improve the lives of pets by becoming a member, a voluntary worker or a foster carer. We guarantee the work's immensely satisfying, fun and involving.

✨️ASSISTED REHOMING ✨️

Meet Flame, a beautiful 10-year-old Ragdoll cross who is looking for a loving new home.

Flame has always been an indoor cat and would need to continue living safely indoors. She has a lovely personality — affectionate on her own terms, independent when she wants to be, and always very enthusiastic when it comes to food! ❤️

At 10 years old, Flame is looking for a calm, comfortable home where she can settle in and enjoy plenty of love, cosy spots and good meals.

We would really like to find the right home for her, with someone who understands cats and will give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable.

If you think you could offer Flame a loving forever home, please send me a message on 0467 020 424 with a little bit about yourself and the home you could offer her. 🐱💕

**EDIT, Adopted **

Say hello to Kitty! 🩷
Little 1yr old Kitty is the perfect companion for anyone who wants a constant little furry friend around the house.
She loves to play with her toys, creating endless hours of entertainment. Kitty also enjoys lots of downtime snuggling her human either on the couch or on the end of the bed at night.
She is very loving and affectionate and would suit a family or single person who wants a cat who will spend as much of her day as possible with her human family.
Kitty is a purebred Persian with a fur coat that befits her heritage. As it grows out, it will need consistent maintenance in the form of brushing daily to keep it tangle and mat free. (She has recently come into care requiring her current hairstyle). She loves the attention so this won't feel like a chore, more like a bonding moment with your furry baby.
She is litter trained and true to her good breeding, uses her scratching post instead of the couch.
This little girl will melt your heart, her little fluffy face and big bright yellow eyes are the most wonderful thing to see when you open the door to home. Kitty has been good in care with other cats and a small dog. Please contact Leonie on 0407440632 between 8am and 8pm for more information. RBN:R251000067
