🔥 ‘Shoreline Drive’ Fire Update Friday 5 December 2025

🔥 FIRE OVERVIEW
• The fire is still active in Limeburners National Park.
• It is bounded on the north and west by Limeburners Creek.
• The fire edge is contained. An infrared scan of the fire on Thursday night did not show any hot spots.

🔥 CURRENT STATUS
• Fire is being held at Limeburners Creek (northern & western edge).
• See the map on ‘Hazards Near Me’ for where the fire is.
• NPWS crews are working on the fire on foot to strengthen containment lines and help prevent any breakouts.
• Helicopters & aircraft are water-bombing to keep it contained. This is likely to continue for the next few days, as needed.

🌬️ WEATHER WATCH
Winds will determine what the fire does next. Strong, gusty winds can quickly change a fire’s behaviour and how fast it will travel.

Friday 5 December
• Winds will strengthen again from the North East & become gusty up to 50kmh from midday to approx. 7pm.
• It’s likely to be smoky on North Shore overnight due to a possible temperature inversion which will trap the smoke. This should ease off on Saturday morning.

Saturday 6 December
• Winds will be moderate from the North East.
• Small chance of storms. Less than 2mm of rainfall expected.

✅ WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

SMOKE:
Depending on the level of fire activity, there is likely to be smoke over North Shore due to the northerly winds. Take precautions if you have medical or breathing issues.

If you see large clouds of smoke heading towards North Shore, there is a possibility the fire has escaped. Put your Bush Fire Survival Plan into action and get ready.

The RFS has been using helicopters for emergency water bombing on fires on the North Shore area & local vicinity.

These helicopters may need to take water from local dams to support the water bombing. Pilots will always look to take water from local rivers etc. Where there is a fast moving fire, round trip times may critical to slow down / halt the spread of the fire. In these conditions, the closet water source will be used.

If this impacts you, please call 1 300 795 299 to register your name and address. Water taken will be replenished.

Note, all aircraft & helicopter movements are tracked and recorded.
Apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused.

North shore RFS will be attending the art walk today. Why not come down and have a look at some nice art works and come some hello.

HOUSE WASH OUTS

Following some very intense days, all the reported requests for assistance for house wash outs by the RFS crews have been completed.

FURTHER ASSISTANCE

The RFS crews visited all the flood affected residences yesterday and provided further wash out assistance as needed. If something comes up and you need assistance, please call the SES on 132 500.

It appears some residents may not have returned yet after the flood.
If they need assistance, please pass on the message to call the SES on 132 500 and arrangements will be made to assist them.

There are still many RFS crews in Port Macquarie as well as Fire & Rescue NSW and Queensland Rural Fire Service assisting the local community.

RFS SHED
The North Shore RFS shed has also closed as the need for food is winding down. The donated material that was remaining has been given to charities in Port Macquarie.

Many thanks to the people, charities and businesses that donated food, water, clothing to the North Shore community.
It made a difficult situation much easier for everyone to cope with.

RFS – LOCALS HELPING LOCALS

The North Shore Brigade were out and about helping washing out houses before the ferry was back on.

Once the ferry came back on, we’ve had magnificent support from local RFS Brigades such as Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Camden Haven, Sancrox, Lake Innes, Telegraph Point and King Creek.

RFS crews from Orchard Hills (Sydney) and the Blue Mountains also traveled to Port Macquarie and come over the river to assist.

One constant message they gave was how impressed they were by the local community. Everyone was helping their neighbors. This was repeated over and over.

Finally, a big thank you to the local Community for your patience and assistance.

It’s made a big difference.
