Community Mental Health Event: Youth Voice Survey

Hey there! We are planning a local community event focused on youth mental health, and wellbeing for adults who care for, teach, coach, or support young people. The theme to the event will be determined by the young people within our community. If you are aged between 12-25 years we would love to hear from you.

The survey is 100% anonymous. It takes less than 5 minutes, and closes on Wednesday, August 26.

We just want to say what an incredible night last Friday was. 🤍 We have SO. MUCH. TALENT. 🤍

From pop, folk and acoustic originals to electronic, rock and metal, every performance brought something unique to the stage. It was so special to watch our young people not only share their own music but also get behind every single act, cheering each other on and celebrating the incredible diversity of our local music scene. Music is such a powerful form of expression, and we feel incredibly grateful to provide a platform where young artists can shine, share their passion, and be supported by friends, family, and the wider community.

A huge thank you as well to our Life Hacks participants Thia, Jasmine, Erin and Layla, who proudly shared the hospitality skills they've been developing, it was wonderful to see your hard work on display. To our amazing youth MCs, Clayton and Marli, thank you for bringing such confidence, energy and enthusiasm to the night. To Jennifer, thank you for capturing this night, we can't wait to share some more of your beautiful pictures. And to Paige, Kyra and Celeyne, thank you for allowing us to showcase your beautiful artwork and creativity for everyone to enjoy.

To everyone who performed: HRP, Jenna Charman, Matilda Andrews, Grace Rosalee, Imy Rose, Sneeze, Concrete and Life of Tragedy, thank you for your courage, creativity and willingness to share a piece of yourselves with us. You should all be so proud.

And to everyone who came along to support including our judges and food vendors Danielle Stearman, Brendan Skinner, Paul Saunders, Southern Side Pizza and Cioa Bella. Thank you for filling the room with such warmth and encouragement. Please keep showing up for these amazing young people. They truly deserve it. 🧡🎶

The Life Hacks program has given young people across Glenelg Shire the opportunity to gain practical skills and learn directly from local industry professionals.
A huge thank you to everyone who generously shared their time, knowledge, and experience with our participants:
🔧 The Glenelg Shire Mechanic Team for delivering our Simple Mechanics sessions and helping young people build confidence with practical vehicle maintenance skills.
☕ Troy from Elements Café in Casterton and Kelly from Bayside Café in Portland for hosting our Introduction to Hospitality sessions and providing a fantastic behind-the-scenes look at the hospitality industry.
🌿 The Glenelg Shire Parks and Gardens Team for leading our Green Spaces Maintenance sessions and showcasing the skills and work involved in creating and maintaining our beautiful public spaces.
The experiences and knowledge shared throughout these sessions are incredibly valuable. They not only introduce young people to a range of industries but also help build confidence, develop practical life skills, and inspire future career possibilities.
It has been an absolute pleasure working with the young people involved. Their enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and engagement throughout the program made every session worthwhile. Thank you for embracing the opportunity, asking great questions, and making the most of these experiences.
We are so grateful to our local businesses and Glenelg Shire teams for investing in the next generation and helping make the Life Hacks program such a success.
The learning doesn't stop here! Our Introduction to Hospitality participants will be putting their new skills into practice at this Friday's Live and Local event, where they'll be helping to serve food and drinks alongside our hospitality partners. We'd love to see the community come along, enjoy a great evening, and support these young people as they gain valuable real-world experience and build their confidence in a live hospitality setting. We are incredibly proud to celebrate Jesse and the amazing contribution he made at the YACVic Breaking Down the Silos Conference as part of a youth panel sharing his experiences as a young musician in the Great South Coast.
Jesse has been involved in many of our Amplify music programs over the years, and it was wonderful to see him confidently take to the stage, sharing his journey, achievements and the impact that music opportunities can have on young people's lives.
A huge thank you to Jesse for making the effort to attend, speak up and advocate for more programs, pathways and opportunities for young musicians across our region. Your passion, honesty and willingness to share your story will help shape future opportunities for other young people and inspire those coming behind you.
