That’s a wrap—the last chick has officially fledged!

A big thank you to the thousands of visitors who came to Point Danger during the breeding season—we have loved sharing this wild experience with you. We’re looking forward to starting tours again later this year, so stay tuned for updates right here!

Still need a Point Danger fix? No worries—you can still explore the greater Point Danger reserve during winter! While the guided tours only run during the gannet breeding season, it’s still an incredible place to visit. In fact, winter is a great time to spot whales, along with plenty of other amazing marine life!

As the season at Point Danger draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the months that have passed. The Gannets have continued to amaze us with their resilience, and now, as the season ends, we're witnessing the last of the fledglings take their first flight. With this, our final tours of the season are also wrapping up. The last daily tour will take place on 16th March at 5:30 pm.

What an incredible season it's been! We welcomed back our resident Cape Gannet, saw exciting rarities like the Brown B***y and Red-tailed Tropicbird, and enjoyed plenty of sightings of dolphins, whales, seals, and our resident Southern Elephant Seal, and watched dedicated parents raise their chicks through some of the harshest conditions on the coast of Australia. It’s been a privilege to share these amazing experiences with all of you, and we can’t wait to see you again for the 2026-2027 nesting season!

There are plenty of gannet chicks to see at the colony right now — from newly hatched youngsters to big, fluffy juveniles! (And the Cape Gannet is still hanging around too.)

Free guided tours run daily at 5:30pm, except on Christmas Day (25 December) and New Year’s Eve (31 December).
