National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to come together to listen, learn and reflect on our shared histories, cultures and achievements. It invites each of us to consider how we can contribute to reconciliation in our everyday lives through understanding, respect and connection.

The 2026 theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation asks something of all of us. It is not something we observe from the sidelines, but something we step into together. Meaningful progress grows from a shared commitment across community.

๐ŸŽ‰ Welcome Cr Mary Picard ๐ŸŽ‰

Congratulations to Mary Picard, who was officially sworn in this afternoon as a Councillor of Glenelg Shire Council.

Cr Picard fills the extraordinary vacancy following the resignation of Mike Noske in April. The position was determined through a VEC countback held on Monday, 1 June, with Cr Picard elected based on votes from the 2024 general election.

Cr Picard expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from Councillors and the Executive Team, as well as the trust placed in her by the community.

โ€œHow pleased I am to step up and serve the community in this way,โ€ she said.

"In turn, thank you to the community for placing their trust in me and putting me in this position of leadership. I hope to do my best to serve the community well.โ€
