Today after training Portland had a call to baal bone gap for 3 unattended campfires after extinguishing those with the assistance of the Good Samaritan that called it in and remained there till we got there. Remember always Extinguish your campfires properly.

After leaving that call we were called to assist the NSW Ambulance service in long swamp.

After a long day of training and calls the crew were able to return to station and close down for the day.

Saturday the 30th of may had Portland brigade called out for a fire near the Portland tip this turned out to be a pile burn which was notified and the property owner’s where there looking after the burn and doing everything they need to do.

Sunday the 31st of may had Portland Brigade called to a fire at capertee which turn out to be several pile burns on 1 property which had been notified however there was no one there looking after the burns.

While the weather is cooling down it is a good idea to look at doing your pile burns, Please remember to do the right thing by looking after your burns and to notify us and your neighbours 24 hours before burning and when lighting your burn.

Today we had 10 members brave the cool morning to pay their respects at the dawn service and cook the breakfast bbq for the RSL. 2 members also attended the march as well.

We would also like to thank the Portland bakery for handing out their delicious ANZAC biscuits this morning.
