Saturday the 30th of may had Portland brigade called out for a fire near the Portland tip this turned out to be a pile burn which was notified and the property owner’s where there looking after the burn and doing everything they need to do.

Sunday the 31st of may had Portland Brigade called to a fire at capertee which turn out to be several pile burns on 1 property which had been notified however there was no one there looking after the burns.

While the weather is cooling down it is a good idea to look at doing your pile burns, Please remember to do the right thing by looking after your burns and to notify us and your neighbours 24 hours before burning and when lighting your burn.

Today we had 10 members brave the cool morning to pay their respects at the dawn service and cook the breakfast bbq for the RSL. 2 members also attended the march as well.

We would also like to thank the Portland bakery for handing out their delicious ANZAC biscuits this morning.

⚠️ In light of Mondays campfire issues (being left behind still burning), Chifley Lithgow District volunteers, supported by Area Command Western mitigation teams are conducting ignition prevention patrols at areas of concern in the Bathurst, Lithgow and Oberon Local Government Areas 🔥🚒

☎️ Don’t be alarmed if you see them around, it doesn’t mean there is a fire in the area. So if you do see a fire, call 000 (Triple Zero) immediately!

📲 Stay up to date with the latest fire information on the NSW Rural Fire Service website or download the HazardsNearMeNSW app on your phone.
