⚓ Recently we wrapped up a memorable visit to our namesake city, we would like to thank the people of Brisbane for the warm welcome and support shown to HMAS Brisbane and her ship's company.

From exercising our Freedom of Entry through the city streets, attending the Civic Reception and Official Hospitality events, to opening our gangway and welcoming the community onboard, it was a privilege to connect with our namesake city and strengthen the bond we proudly carry wherever we serve.

To everyone who joined us, welcomed us, and supported our visit, thank you.

Pic(k) of the week 📸 – HMAS Brisbane (II) sails into HMAS Kuttabul for her decommissioning ceremony ⚓

HMAS Brisbane (II) was the 3rd of 3 Perth class (improved Charles F Adams class) guided missile destroyers (DDG) built in the United States (US) for the Royal Australia Navy (RAN). Ships of the same class were HMA Ships Perth (II) and Hobart (II).

HMAS Brisbane III carries on the legacy of HMAS Brisbane (II), and was the second of the 3 Hobart Class Destroyers currently in service. 🫡

Come down to King George Square for HMAS Brisbane III Freedom of Entry.

HMAS Brisbane III will be visiting Brisbane from 28 May - 01 Jun 2026. As a part of the visit, the ship will exercise a Freedom of Entry through the city of Brisbane.

The ship is very proud to bear the name of the great city of Brisbane and is looking forward to marching with swords drawn, colours flying, drums beating and band playing.

Join us on Friday 29 May as the Royal Australian Navy’s HMAS Brisbane exercise their right to Freedom of Entry to the City of Brisbane. Watch as they march along Adelaide Street as part of this historic event.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today we recognise what all mums bring to both to Navy and home. Whether serving at sea or supporting from ashore, your impact reaches far beyond the ship’s company.

To the mums serving onboard the Steel Cat, the partners carrying the load at home, the grandmothers, step mums, the bonus mums, and the women who step into “mum mode” whenever needed, thank you.

We also keep in our thoughts for those whom Mother’s Day may be difficult this year.
