Last week, our school community came together to acknowledge National Reconciliation Week, held annually from 27 May to 3 June. Through student reflections and shared messages, we recognised the importance of reconciliation in Australia building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community, learning from our true history, and celebrating the world’s oldest living cultures.

We were also privileged to hear from our guest speaker, Uncle Darrell, who shared valuable insights and experiences that encouraged our students to continue listening, learning and reflecting on the role we all play in reconciliation.

This year’s theme, “All In,” reminds us that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. It encourages us all to listen respectfully to First Nations voices, challenge racism and stereotypes, and continue learning about Indigenous histories and cultures. Even small actions grounded in kindness, respect and understanding can make a meaningful difference.

Our Year 8 students recently took part in a highly engaging Engineering Day in partnership with the University of Sydney as part of the KHUDA program. Students participated in hands-on workshops including constructing a bionic arm, drone flying and circuit board activities. The day was a great success, with strong student engagement and positive feedback from University of Sydney ambassadors, who praised students’ enthusiasm, teamwork and potential in STEM fields.
