Wheelie Good Tunes — A Belated Thank You!
We're a little late getting this one out, but some thank-yous are well worth the wait!
The weather gods certainly didn't make it easy for our car show back on 4th April! But despite the conditions, the music, drinks, and food went down a treat with everyone who came along to support the day.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who gave up their time to work the BBQ and behind the bar - the day simply wouldn't have happened without you.
We were also thrilled to receive two very generous donations on the day: $1,000 from Tazzy's Crazy Cruizers Car Club and $1,000 from Hawley Transport Pty Ltd. We can't thank you both enough for your support.

A massive shout-out to Blizzard Brew and Mai Ben Rae Thai Food for keeping the crowds warm, caffeinated, and well-fed!
Thanks also to Coast FM for helping promote the event and spreading the word across the Coast.
And a special mention to Tom Clarke - a talented sound technician who shares our vision of turning our venue into a popular entertainment hub for the North-West Coast. Tom's full of ideas and connections to help make that happen, so watch this space!
Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came out to support us. We can't wait to see you at the next one.

Some words from our newest LIFE MEMBER - ANDREW TOWNS

I’m incredibly honoured to be awarded Life Membership of Penguin SLSC.
From my first nipper session as a six-year-old to now bringing my own kids through the club, Penguin has shaped so much of who I am.
Along the way I’ve been lucky to learn from great mentors, build lifelong friendships, and be part of a club that continues to grow and succeed—from developing athletes to creating a strong, inclusive community.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful to everyone who has played a part in the journey.
This recognition means a great deal to me and my family—thank you.

Congratulations Andrew - well deserved - Thankyou for your time and commitment to Penguin SLSC!

There will be no Thai van at the club tonight.
However, the bar will still be open at 5.30pm. Come on down and enjoy the warmth of the bar, and catch the footy on the TV. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a quiet drink with friends.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Saturday is the ultimate litmus test. We’re trial-running a brand-new concept at the Club, and we need the community to show up in force. Think of it as the ultimate mashup: live music, a stunning showcase from the Tazzy Crazy Cruizers, and a bar that stays open as long as the vibes are high.

Wishing all our members, nippers, and the local community a wonderful and safe Easter break. Whether you’re hitting the waves or just enjoying some chocolate on the sand, we hope it’s a cracker!
A quick update on the club facilities over the long weekend:

JUNIOR STATES WRAP UP 🐧💙🩵
What a weekend! Our small but mighty team of 16 competitors gave everything they had at the Junior State Titles, braving some truly amazing surf conditions. While the bling was a bonus, it was the smiles, the support for one another, and the willingness to step outside comfort zones that really stole the show.
The Results 🏆
We couldn’t be prouder to finish 6th Overall and an incredible 3rd in the handicap points!
Special Mentions 🌟
• The Graduates: A massive well done to our U14s competing in their final carnival - that final board relay was nothing short of epic!
• Junior Lifesaver of the Year: A huge congratulations to Ethan Beaumont for representing our club so well as our Junior Lifesaver of the Year nominee.
• The "Unsung Heroes": A giant thank you to our officals for officiating - our nippers simply cannot compete without you.
To all the parents and age managers: thank you for the hugs, wiping away the tears, and keeping everyone hydrated and ready to go. You are the backbone of this team! 🙏
From the first-timers to our seasoned U14s, you did the colours proud. We can't wait to see everyone this Thursday to celebrate an amazing year! 🥳

Bluebottle Warning
There has been an influx of bluebottles across the state. Before you dive in, take a quick look at the shoreline and refresh your first aid knowledge.

👀 How to Spot Them
• The Float: A small blue or purple air-filled "bubble" (usually up to 8cm).
• The Tentacles: Long blue strings hanging underneath. These can stretch for several meters or look like short, coiled threads.

⛑️ First Aid Steps
If someone is stung, follow these steps immediately:
• Don’t Rub: Rubbing the site will only make the sting worse.
• Remove Tentacles: Carefully pick off any blue tentacles sticking to the skin.
• Rinse: Use seawater only. Avoid freshwater, as it can cause the stingers to fire.
• Apply Heat: Soak the area in hot water (as warm as can be tolerated) for 20 minutes.
• Use Cold if Needed: If heat doesn't help or isn't available, use a cold pack or ice wrapped in a dry plastic bag.
• Seek Help: If pain persists or a severe reaction occurs, seek medical attention.
