🚔 REMOVE IT, LOCK IT OR LOSE IT 🚔

The Proactive Policing Unit were at Pacific Epping Shopping Centre on Sunday conducting patrols and engaging with the community about simple ways to protect your property.

It was great to see a number of cars fitted with steering wheel locks, with many motorists already taking proactive steps to protect their vehicles from opportunistic thieves.

Our message is simple:

🔑 Remove valuables from your vehicle
🔒 Lock your doors and secure your windows
🚗 Consider additional security measures such as a steering wheel lock

Opportunistic thieves are often looking for easy targets. By removing temptation and securing your vehicle, you can reduce the risk of having your car broken into.

Remember: Remove It, Lock It or Lose It.

A 37-year-old woman from Taylors Lakes has been charged and her car impounded, after allegedly stealing from two stores at a Preston shopping centre on separate days.

On June 12, it is alleged she stole a handbag valued at $600, returning to the shopping centre on June 16 in possession of the same handbag, which she then used to allegedly conceal the theft of two hooded jumpers valued at $500.

Eagled eyed Loss Prevention Officers recognised the female and patrolling Operation Pulse members arrested her, subsequently identifying that she had been recorded on the Centre’s CCTV driving Unlicensed.

All allegedly stolen items were seized and returned by police and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

She has been charged and bailed to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates Court on August 10.

When the community needed help the most, these members answered the call - and help saved lives.

They have since been recognised for their extraordinary actions on the frontline.

Acting Sergeant Mehmet, Senior Constable Colliver and Constable Woestyne received Divisional Commendations after responding to a critically injured unconscious man at Melbourne Central in December 2024.

Faced with heavy crowds, limited radio communication and a rapidly unfolding situation, the team worked together to secure the area and provide lifesaving first aid until Ambulance Victoria arrived.

Two officers from the North West Metro region were also awarded Commendations after locating a high-risk missing person in dense bushland near Dights Falls Reserve late at night.

Searching rough terrain in cold conditions, the pair found the man exhausted and barely able to move, staying by his side and providing care until paramedics arrived.

The determination and commitment of all officers undoubtedly helped save lives.

On , we recognise every emergency worker across Victoria — including these members — who continue to show up for the community during its most critical moments.

Thank you 💙
