What’s your favourite soup? I recently made a delicious broccoli, cauliflower and lemon soup. I am now slow cooking a hock ready for my next soup.

June is here, bringing cooler days, warm kitchens and opportunities to focus on our wellbeing.
This month, The South Australian Country Women’s Association Inc. is celebrating Winter Warmth, Wellbeing and Soup.
For SACWA, wellbeing is about more than physical health. It is found in the friendships we build, the support we give, the knowledge we share, the comfort we offer and the purpose we find in serving others. It is the warm welcome at a meeting, the helping hand in times of need, the skills passed from one generation to another and the connections that strengthen our communities.
Throughout June we will explore the many ways wellbeing has shaped SACWA's history and continues to influence our work today. From stories of resilience in our archives, to comforting winter recipes, to ideas that help us stay connected and support one another, we hope there will be something for everyone.
💬 We'd love to hear from you!
What helps keep you well during winter?
Perhaps it's:
❤️ A favourite comfort food
❤️ Time with family and friends
❤️ Learning a new skill
❤️ Volunteering in your community
❤️ A walk in nature
❤️ A warm cup of tea and a good book
Share your thoughts in the comments and help us celebrate the many different paths to wellbeing.
After all, wellbeing is at the heart of what we do — Sharing And Caring With Action.
Thats the SACWA way

I recently listened to a podcast with **Mel Robbins** and **Dr Tara Narula** on stress, resilience, and finding purpose, and one message really stayed with me:

**You are stronger than you think.**

When life feels uncertain, many of us focus on what is going wrong or what we can't control. Yet research continues to show that resilience isn't something we're born with—it's something we build through small daily habits.

Some of the most powerful ways to strengthen resilience include:

✔ Having a sense of purpose or something meaningful to work towards
✔ Spending time in nature
✔ Moving your body regularly
✔ Practising breathwork and mindfulness
✔ Speaking to yourself with kindness and encouragement
✔ Investing in your social connections

One of my favourite concepts from the podcast was the idea of being a **lighthouse, not a lifeboat**.

A lighthouse doesn't rescue every ship. It stands strong, shines its light, and helps others find their way.

As women, parents, carers, leaders, and friends, we often try to carry everyone else's problems. Perhaps sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is look after our own wellbeing and simply be a steady presence for those around us.

What's one thing you do to build resilience when life gets stressful?

At Flourish with Rachel, creating opportunities for people to reconnect with themselves, build confidence, and strengthen meaningful connections is at the heart of everything we do.

Insolvencies are up, business sentiment is down and cost-of-living pressures have never been harder, so the last thing small businesses need is a Labor Government working against them.

One in three small businesses will struggle to meet financial commitments over the next four weeks, according to new ABS data.

What a fantastic night at the BNI United Quiz Night on Friday at the Arkaba Top Room, raising funds for Youth Options to support young people with driving lessons and greater independence. 🚗✨

The tropical theme, colourful outfits, raffles, silent auction and great atmosphere made for such a fun evening, and it was wonderful to see so many people coming together to support an important cause. Congratulations to everyone involved in organising such a successful fundraiser, raising over $8,000 for local young people. 👏

Our table had an absolute ball and we were pretty excited to come in 3rd overall! 🥉🧠 There were definitely some competitive moments, plenty of laughs, and a lot of random general knowledge being put to the test.

A big thank you to BNI United, Youth Options and everyone who donated prizes, attended, volunteered and helped make the night such a success. Events like this really do show the power of community.

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating the 11th Birthday of the Prospect View Club today at the Walkers Arms Hotel in Walkerville. 💗

The room looked absolutely beautiful with our “Wear Pink” theme, with so many lovely women dressed in pink and gorgeous pink cupcakes kindly donated for the celebration. We were also treated to a fantastic guest speaker, Deb Marston from Intimo, who shared some wonderful insights and inspiration.

I was also lucky enough to win one of the raffle prizes, which was a lovely surprise!

A huge congratulations to the Prospect View Club on reaching 11 years. The success of the club is a true credit to the incredible volunteers and members who give so much of their time, friendship and support to make it such a welcoming and successful group.

Most importantly, today was also a wonderful reminder of the difference VIEW Clubs make through supporting children’s education via The Smith Family sponsorship program. Every child we help sponsor is being given greater opportunities for their future, and that is something very special to celebrate.

Thank you to everyone who made today such a joyful and memorable occasion. 💕
