In the Chambers today it was a great opportunity for our region to catch up with Senator Pauline Hanson. We gave her a copy of our Federal Advocacy Document and asked her to please advocate for an increase to the Federal Assistance Grants and the return of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grants for all Councils. We talked about defence, renewables, youth crime, funding cctv cameras, veg management laws, housing and homeless and a host of other topics.

A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Kingaroy Solar Farm was unanimously rejected by South Burnett councillors.

Mayor Kathy Duff was interviewed yesterday by Dobbo on the Qld Rural Today radio show. (audio link below)

In part Kathy Duff said:
" It is a challenging time for council with these renewables. The planning seems to be happening afterwards., instead of upfront because they are put anywhere. We [South Burnett Regional councillors] believe that particularly solar farms are heavy industrial, yet the project proponents can out them anywhere; on agricultural land, and close to towns. For council using a planning scheme, you put things where you want them to progress your region. You want to keep the heavy industrial in certain spots; but they [renewal project proponents] put them anywhere they like.
