🏠 Bookings are now open for the two new one-bedroom cabins at Queenscliff Recreation Reserve Caravan Park!
The team has been working hard to get the cabins ready, with landscaping underway over the coming weeks.

🎉 To celebrate, the Queenscliff Tourist Parks are offering 20% off all cabin stays throughout September and October, including the September school holidays. The offer excludes the AFL Grand Final long weekend.

🚶 A section of the Queenscliff to Point Lonsdale walking track is getting an upgrade! Between the Point Lonsdale Pier to Rip View car park, the existing wire fencing will be replaced with timber fencing to improve safety, while keeping the track in line with its beautiful coastal setting.

🚧 The works are scheduled to begin on Tuesday 1 September until Friday 4 September. To ensure public safety, the walking track will be closed during this time with alternative access along Point Lonsdale Road. Please keep in mind that the schedule may shift at short notice if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

🤝 Council thanks you for your patience while we make these improvements to our coastline.

📣 A reminder that Council’s Listening Post is this coming Monday 31 August at Wirrng Wirrng (Queenscliffe Hub), from 5pm–6pm.

🌿 The session will focus on our environment pillar.

🗣 The Listening Post is an opportunity for the broader community to contribute to how we care for our natural environment, this will help inform the Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) review. Councillors and key Council Officers will be there to listen.

🌿 The Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) is about to undergo a 5-year review.

🤝 The review will recognise the significant progress made since the plan was introduced, including the integration of climate action across Council’s policies, operations and decision-making, as well as QCAN’s important contribution to developing and advancing the original plan.

🗣 To support this process, Council has engaged Nation Partners to assist with community engagement activities. The review will seek community feedback on key issues such as climate adaptation, resilience, emissions reduction and collaborative action, while clarifying what Council can influence, what reporting pillars have been established, and what lies outside Council's control.

📑 August Council Meeting Highlights

To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans, here is a highlight summary from last night's Council Meeting:
▪️ Notice of Motion from Cr Rule for Council Officers to prepare and submit a nomination for Fort Queenscliff to the National Heritage List before October 16, 2026.
▪️ Council endorses the Engagement Plan Roadmap Climate Strategy (CERP 5-Year Review).
▪️ Council endorse the draft Coastal and Marine Management Plan (CMMP) for public exhibition.
▪️ Council commits to joining the new (shared service model) company which will provide library services in a similar capacity to Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) for its member councils.
▪️Council adopts the revised Council Policy CP022 Community Service Awards as presented.
▪️Council amends the 2026–2027 Council Fees and Charges, effective immediately.

🛠 We’re replacing the fence at Princess Park along Gellibrand Street, giving the area a fresh new look in time for spring.

⚒ Works will begin on Monday 24 August and are expected to be completed within the week, weather permitting. Painting of the new fencing will take place at a later date.

🚧 There will be some temporary disruption to car parking along Gellibrand Street while the works are underway. Sections of parking will be closed progressively, with each section reopened before the next section is closed.

🤝 We apologise for any inconvenience and thank the community and visitors for their patience while these works are carried out.

📣 A reminder that Council's Listening Post is coming up at Wirrng Wirrng (Queenscliff Hub) on Monday 31 August from 5 pm – 6 pm.

🌿 The session will focus on our environment pillar.

🗣 The Listening Post is an opportunity for the community to contribute to the Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) process. To build on the many strengths of the CERP, and in line with continual improvement, we want to hear your insights on key climate inputs that should or must be considered as part of the review process. Councillors and key Council Officers will be there to listen. Your feedback will help inform the CERP review.

⚠️Agriculture Victoria have today advised Council that a crested tern has tested positive for H5N1 (also known as Bird Flu) in Point Lonsdale.

🦅 If you see sick or dead birds or wildlife:
- avoid contact
- record the exact location and what you observed
- report it online or call 1800 675 888

🐦We know people care deeply about wildlife and want to help when they see an animal in distress. Injured wildlife may still need rescue and care, but if birds or wildlife appear sick, or dead, avoid contact and report it so trained responders can safely assess the situation.

👉Please remain alert whilst we continue to monitor this situation with Agriculture Victoria.

🤝 After a thorough Expression of Interest process, the Borough of Queenscliffe is pleased to announce that Staple Eatery & Deli will take on the lease at the Queenscliff Recreation Reserve on Hesse Street (Shortlands Bluff).

☕ The new tenant is expected to commence trading in November and will be offering award-winning coffee, delicious sandwiches, an amazing take-home meal range, and curated pantry items for our residents, community and visitors to the area.

💐 Now is the perfect time to start preparing your flowers and vegetables for the exhibition. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or entering for the first time, everyone is encouraged to get involved and showcase what they’ve grown.

🍅 If you would like to exhibit a floral arrangement or vegetable, print out the entry form in this post or pick up a form from reception at Wirrng Wirrng (The Hub). Entries must be received by Friday 16 October.
