What a great day for a picnic!

For 2026, Queenstown SES put throwline skills to the test and saw some impressive efforts in the future SES members.

We also showcased the dirty, disgusting and dangerous things that can be found in floodwater - we are worried the kids enjoyed it far too much.

Our mascot snake ‘Sebastian’ had to be rescued but not before Brian snuck in a kiss (surely it wasn’t a bite!).

Thanks to Daniel, Brian and Nicole for hosting

We're encouraging people to be prepared and informed with the potential for damaging winds to cross the state tomorrow (Saturday).

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds from mid-morning on Saturday.

Wind gusts around 55km/h to 70km/h are possible across the state, with gusts up to 120km/h in elevated areas.

Our crews are prepared and ready to help if needed, but people should prepare their properties.

SES advises you to:

👩‍🦱🧒 Supervise children closely.
🏚️ Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
🐕 Manage pets and livestock.
🏠 Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
🔦 Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
🚗 Park cars undercover away from trees.
🌳 Beware of damaged trees and power lines and drive to the conditions.

📲 If you require SES assistance, visit phone 132 500.
📲 In an emergency, phone Triple Zero (000).

Slow Down, Stay Safe

When you see flashing red and blue lights on the road whether it’s Police, Ambulance, Fire or SES slow down to 40km/h.

It’s not just the law. It’s about protecting the lives of emergency workers, volunteers, and YOU.
We’re out there in all conditions, helping the community. Please help us get home safely too.

Slow down. Stay alert. Save lives.

🦺🙌 It's National Volunteer Week – a time for us to say thank you to our 800+ volunteers at Tasmania SES for their ongoing commitment.

Tasmania SES volunteers selflessly provide emergency assistance across our state in response to a wide range of events including storm and flood, search and rescue, and road crash rescue.

To every volunteer - and their families and employers who support them - thank you for your dedication to our service and the community.
