Last week, we were proud to see members of the Liverpool Plains LGA recognised for a combination of 936 years of commitment to the Rural Fire Service at the Long Service Awards presentation.

These incredible volunteers give their time to help protect our community often in challenging and unpredictable conditions. Their years of service are a true testament to the strength of community spirit across our region.

Congratulations to all recipients for this well deserved recognition, and thank you for everything you do to keep your community safe.

Although we’ve seen some rain in recent days, conditions remain dry, particularly in the western parts of the state. Firefighters have been kept busy responding to a number of fires, several of which were caused by escaped burns.

While the Bush Fire Danger Period is no longer in place for all LGAs across NSW, we urge residents and land managers to check conditions before lighting a burn and remember that you are required to notify the RFS and your neighbours at least 24 hours before burning.

To notify the of your intention to burn, visit our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify

This afternoon multiple RFS crews as well as Farm Fire Units were called to a grass fire on Prairies Rd, Kelvin. It appears this fire was caused by a camp fire left unextinguished this morning.
Just a reminder, please take the time to fully extinguish any camp fires when leaving. While there was no property damaged, this fire was close to multiple homes and the local Community Hall.

🔥HAZARD REDUCTION NOTIFICATION🔥
Tomorrow the 30th of April the RFS will be conducting the final 6ha of the 13ha Hazard Reduction at Bolah Gap Rd, Quirindi.
As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following:
• Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes;
• Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns;
• Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage;
• Remove washing from clotheslines;
• Ensure pets have a protected area;
• If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on;
• If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities.
If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
Should any further information be required, please contact the RFS Liverpool Range Office on (02) 6746 5800 between 9am and 5pm weekdays. You can also obtain additional information on prescribed burning and property preparedness by accessing the NSW Rural Fire Service website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.
If weather conditions become unfavourable, the Hazard Reduction burn will be postponed until conditions become suitable.

So wonderful to spend time at Ronald McDonald House Tamworth! 💛

It was such a pleasure meeting the amazing volunteers who make this place so special. We were able to drop off some fun activities for the kids to enjoy during their stay, helping to bring a little joy to the children and their families during a challenging time.

Thank you to everyone at Ronald McDonald House for the incredible work you do—so grateful to support your mission in even a small way! 🌟

A big Thank you to the Liverpool Range District Rural Fire Service from Quirindi 🚒, popping into our Ronald McDonald House with a ‘truck-load’ of goodies for our families to enjoy.

Having stayed at our Ronald McDonald House Newcastle, Sarah and Brent were inspired to give back; donating fire helmets, colouring books and activity packs, sure to bring hours of joy to children staying with us.
