Happy Buck. Clint and his mates had an awesome day.

We managed to squeeze a day out of this rubbish weather. The bar crossing was interesting, the ocean was confused but the fishing was consistent. Lost a few trophies but managed a nice box.

Fuel surcharge applied.

Rainbow Escape Charters will be continue applying a Fuel surcharge from May 2026.

Due to the global economic climate, reduction to our claimable fuel excise in the budget, and staggering fuel price increases we have been forced to pass this extra cost onto our customers. If you have chartered with us before you will understand the huge distances we travel and the corresponding fuel consumption. We wish to continue chasing the trophy fish we catch every charter.

Dave has decided, rather than limiting our travel, we still wish to offer the best charter experience possible.

After doing our numbers we have worked out a price increase of 9%. This will apply to all current bookings and new bookings.

We apologise for the increase, we have been seriously evaluating our options and this is the only way we can continue to offer our unique fishing experience.

A little bit of explanation on how the new budget affects charter companie and other industries.

The fuel excise has been reduced that's why fuel is cheaper at the pump. Unfortunately for us we used to claim 52c a litre and now can only claim 20c a litre. Add 30c to every litre and that's what our costs have gone up on top of the fuel increase. At face value it seems like fuel is reduced but for us its gone up 90c-$1.20per litre. Over 450 litre per day that's a lot of our income. Small businesses have many hidden costs that the normal worker on salary doesn't even consider. The reduction in fuel excise hurts primary producers, charter operators, shipping, logging, machine operators etc.

Caught by surprise.

We try to limit our catch on any 1 rock. Chasing Reds often gets great bycatch in the form of cod. In this case the customers already had lines in the water when I called last drop.
