It belongs to the same family as Asparagus

Congratulations Sue McDougall

We're thrilled to welcome Sue McDougall to the Kings Park and Botanic Garden team as the new Director of the Western Australian Botanic Garden! 🙌🌱

Sue is well-known across Perth for sharing her gardening expertise in print, radio and TV, and brings more than 35 years of horticultural experience to her new role at Kings Park.

She sees her new role at Kings Park as an opportunity to continue to promote the role native plants play in preserving our State’s biodiversity and work towards conserving them for future generations.

‘The unique flora King Park showcases in world class ex-situ displays can be easily grown in garden situation regardless of whether it’s in a backyard or a single pot on a balcony. I am excited by the opportunity to work with a highly skilled dedicated team who promote and conserve species for future generations. With a drying climate the use of endemic Western Australian species in ornamental horticulture will be more important than ever.’

What an amazing season we are having for wildflowers. Why not combine your wildflower road trip with one of the many regional wildflower shows or festivals happening around our state over the next few months.
