Wishing our colleagues heading to Nepal the very best as you travel to support communities in need.

Ten Fire and Rescue NSW personnel have deployed to Nepal as part of Australia's Disaster Assistance Response Team following devastating flooding.

The team includes six specialist drone operators and four incident management specialists who will support search and rescue efforts using advanced aerial technology.

Specialist drones will help search teams by:
• Accessing areas too dangerous for ground crews
• Providing aerial reconnaissance and mapping
• Using thermal imaging technology
• Delivering live intelligence to support operational decisions

The team will be self-sufficient, carrying its own food, water, medicines and tents so it does not place additional pressure on local supplies.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the floods in Nepal and those waiting for news of loved ones.

Just before 6pm last night we responded to a house fire in Kia Ora Street, along with Fire And Rescue NSW Station 454 Tarro, NSW RFS - Raymond Terrace Brigade and NSW RFS - Salt Ash Brigade.

Upon arrival it was upgraded to 2nd Alarm Structure Fire resulting in Fire and Rescue NSW Station 377 Minmi and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 462 Mayfield West being assigned to assist our crews.

Unfortunately, the internal components of the home was destroyed by fire believing to have originated in the kitchen and rapidly spreading into the roof cavity.

Thankfully, all occupants were evacuated and nil injuries were reported.

Just before 4.30pm yesterday afternoon we responded to support Fire and Rescue NSW Station 402 Salamander Bay along with NSW RFS - Tilligerry Brigade to a unit fire in Shoal Bay.

Upon arrival, Station 402 Salamander Bay had quickly gained fire control and successfully contained the fire to the one unit 🔥🚒🧯

Thankfully, all occupants were evacuated and nil injuries were reported.

Winter is a peak time for house fires.
Follow key safety rules: keep items one meter from heaters, never leave cooking unattended.

Raymond Terrace 432 crew were called to a house fire on Glenelg Street, Raymond Terrace last night at approximately 9.30pm.

The call was quickly upgraded to a Structure fire 2nd alarm while pumps were on route.

Crews worked in BA with multiple lines of hose to protect neighboring properties on either side of the house and to bring the blaze under control.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported and no one home at time however, the home was totally destroyed.

Thank you to Fire And Rescue NSW Station 454 Tarro, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 382 Morpeth, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 373 East Maitland and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 462 Mayfield West, NSW RFS - Raymond Terrace Brigade, NSW RFS - Thornton Brigade and NSW RFS - Medowie Brigade we appreciate the teamwork and assistance to help protect properties and bring the blaze under control.
