🏀🔥 Verse a VIP! 🔥🏀

Romulus, Safeer and Caidence took on Miss Curwen and Miss Leilani after purchasing ‘Verse a VIP’ on Perry’s Marketplace Trolley!
Miss Curwen and Miss Leilani joined the competition as EXTRA special guests because of course, we didn’t want to go too hard on our young friends!

There were plenty of laughs and some serious skills on display.

Thanks for being such great sports, everyone! ⭐

⏰ Every Minute of Learning Counts!

Regular attendance means being at school from the first bell to the last bell.

Arriving on time helps students settle in, connect with classmates and be ready to learn. Staying until the end of the day ensures they don’t miss important learning, routines or messages.

🔒 Lockdown Drill Successfully Completed

Today, our school successfully completed a lockdown drill as part of our regular emergency preparedness procedures.

We are very proud of the way our students responded. They remained calm, quiet and settled, listened carefully to their teachers and followed instructions extremely well. 💙

Practising emergency procedures helps ensure that students and staff are familiar with what to do should an unexpected situation ever occur. Regular drills also allow us to review our processes and make sure we are doing everything we can to keep our school community safe.

We understand that the idea of a lockdown can sometimes sound concerning for children and families. Today’s drill was completed in a calm, supportive and age-appropriate way, with staff reassuring students throughout the process.

A big thank you to our students and staff for the responsible and respectful way they participated. These practices are an important part of helping everyone at our school feel safe, confident and prepared. 💙

Yesterday, 1B celebrated their achievement of reaching 300 class stars with a cooking party! Mr Medford was the guest chef, making 'dirt worm cookies' aligning to our procedure's unit. Congratulations 1B! And a very big thank you for the delicious cookies.

📅 Pupil Free Day – Friday 4 September

A reminder that Friday 4 September is a Pupil Free Day at Fernbrooke State School. There will be no regular student attendance or teaching on this day.

Our staff will be participating in professional learning and planning.

Families who use Helping Hands OSHC are asked to contact the service directly regarding arrangements for the day.

🌱 Growing Something Special in C Block 🌱

Our C Block garden is getting an exciting makeover! Miss Curwen and a group of students are transforming the space into an edible garden designed by the students themselves.

The garden will include bush tucker, herbs, fruits, vegetables and edible flowers, while giving students hands-on opportunities to learn about sustainability, culture, food production and waterwise gardening.

We can’t wait to watch it grow—and eventually enjoy the harvest! 🌿🥕🍓

We are welcoming back the Athlete Development Program to Fernbrooke State School for students in years 4-6. ADP is an innovative program which caters for talented students across grades 4-6 across all sporting disciplines. The program aims to develop young sportspeople in terms of their:
✅sporting skills
✅fitness
✅enthusiasm towards sport and school
✅academic work, through sport
✅sportsmanship and school citizenship
The program will offer limited positions to students for term 4. Applications can be collected by students in front of the PE office and must be returned fully completed by Thursday the 3rd of September.
