π¬ The Power of Words π¬
At Fernbrooke State School, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where every student feels valued and respected.
Recently, we have been reminding students about the importance of the words they choose. Language is powerfulβit can build others up, create a sense of belonging and strengthen relationships. Equally, hurtful or offensive language can have a significant impact on others, regardless of the speaker's intent.
The upper primary years are an important time for students to develop empathy, respect and positive communication skills. As a school, we continue to work closely with students through education, restorative conversations and clear expectations to help them understand that words matter.
Families play an important role too. Conversations at home about respectful communication, online influences and treating others with dignity help reinforce these important messages.
Together, we can ensure Fernbrooke remains a place where kindness, respect and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. ππ
π Gala Day Update
Unfortunately, wet weather interrupted our first Gala Day. We are looking forward to getting back out there this Friday and will now utilise our catch-up day on 19 June to ensure students still enjoy three Gala Days.
ποΈ Year 6 Parliament in Schools
On 18 June, our Year 6 students will welcome federal representatives as part of the Parliament in Schools program. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about government, democracy and the important role elected representatives play in our community.
π Year 6 Parliament House Excursion
A reminder that payments for the Year 6 Parliament House excursion close on Friday 12 June. This excursion provides students with a valuable hands-on learning experience as they explore Queensland's democratic processes and institutions.
