The Pavilion, Suttons Beach

The Pavilion, Suttons Beach Council did not listen to the community & demolished our much-loved icon. Please send via Messenger with anything you would like to share or post.

This page continues in ‘her’ memory as a platform for community members to spread awareness of issues & concerns in the hope our elected council representatives will hear us. The Pavilion, Suttons Beach - This page is a Community Voice Platform intended to:

*Make Council Accountable
*Inform & Educate
*Promote Action

It's open to all and contributions are invited. The page is a result of so many

people asking what is happening with the Pavilion and why MBRC aren't providing updates. Whilst this page allows open and democratic discussion, negative statements of a personal nature are not allowed. Let's be kind people and have a healthy exchange of views without resorting to insults or attacks. If you don’t agree, then this platform is not the page for you. Disclaimer: The page is not associated with any other groups or businesses

This one thriving business has now closed, the staff and owners have all moved on. Due to years of neglect and lack of investment and maintenance by Moreton Bay Regional Council, she fell into disrepair, and Council tore her down. The Pavilion has been part of our history and heritage for over 80 years, but now the heart has been ripped out of the building and our community. PLEASE REMEMBER ME. Admins of this page are:

Many have fond memories of Tarlair Lido in its prime, a saltwater tidal lido that made outdoor swimming magical.

☀️Beautiful Sunday afternoon hand delivering letters to residents about the Pavilion project.

Having advocated for the building of a new Suttons Beach Pavilion, working with City of Moreton Bay, the Suttons Beach Pavilion Preservation Group, and residents, it’s great to see construction imminent at Suttons.

Work is set to commence as we deliver a high-quality, fully accessible hospitality venue.

The Pavilion will include:

🔵Three hospitality spaces.

🔵Enhanced public amenities including accessible toilets, accessible showers and a Changing Places facility (supporting people who require a hoist).

🔵Ample indoor dining and outdoor seating options.

🔵Improved accessibility throughout the car park, Pavilion and surrounding park.

🔵A circular seating and potential events space that is open and accessible.

🔵Lift and stairs between both levels.
Versatile landscape for everyday activities and events.

🔵Design features that cater to the sub-tropical climate and weather conditions.

🔵Native plant species in the surrounding landscape.

🔵Retention of existing rotunda further towards the Surf Club.

Not long to go before work kicks off! Thanks to funding from Council and the SEQ City Deal, including the State and Federal Governments.

The contract to build the new pavilion and pineapple ring has been awarded. Building is due to commence early 2026 with completion 2027. While it is wonderful that Suttons Beach will be revitalised, many of us will still have a heavy heart that the loud community voice was ignored both in the preservation of the historic pavilion and in the design of the new.

The contract for construction of the Suttons Beach Pavilion has been awarded with works set to start in early 2026 and be completed by mid-2027.

Good news! Well done to the 6 Councillors who voted "NO".

Plans for a new 10-storey development on Redcliffe’s waterfront have been narrowly rejected by Moreton Bay City Councillors.

Simpler times or just different ones? You decide.

I found this gem from around 1948, now restored in colour — showing our beautiful Peninsula and the one and only, our grand old girl, The Pavilion, Suttons Beach

I’ll try and share the full video tomorrow, which includes more beautiful shots from across Brisbane.
Stay safe and keep smiling!
Cheers,
