🚒🥽 TRAINING IS LOOKING A LITTLE DIFFERENT 🥽🚒

Yesterday afternoon, Craig and Dan stepped into the future of firefighter training, representing Redesdale and attending a Virtual Reality session using CFA’s Virtual Firefighter system.

Donning the VR goggles and real firefighting equipment, they worked through a range of realistic fireground scenarios - from house fires to grass fires - all in a safe but highly immersive environment.

Using FLAIM Trainer technology, the system recreates the heat, visuals and decision-making pressure of real incidents, helping our members build skills and confidence for the situations we may face out on the fireground.

A great opportunity to sharpen skills, stay prepared, and make sure we’re ready when our community needs us. 🚒🔥

🚨 EMERGENCY SERVICES BLOOD DRIVE - YOU CAN HELP TOO ❤️🩸

Fire season may be over, but saving lives never stops.

CFA is backing the Emergency Services Blood Drive running from now til the end of July & we’d love our community to get behind it too.

Just 1 donation can save up to 3 lives, and right now blood supplies - especially O- and O+ - are low.

Last year, CFA donations helped save 2,877 lives. This year, let’s do even more.

You don’t need to know your blood type - if you’re able to donate, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood will take care of the rest.

📍Book your donation here:

Please share and help spread the word.

❤️💛 WHAT THEY DON’T TELL YOU ABOUT JOINING THE CFA 💛❤️

You sign up thinking it’s all training, trucks and callouts…

What they don’t tell you is everything else.

The last few weeks alone we’ve had Easter celebrations, helped put up a marquee, built a pool table, worked on a cattery…and shared plenty of baked goods and slices along the way.

None of that’s in the brochure - but it’s a big part of what being in a small community is all about.

It’s not just about the pager going off.
It’s about turning up, helping out and being part of something bigger.

🌺 ANZAC DAY 🌺

Today we pause to remember those who have served before us, those who continue to serve, and the families who stand beside them.

We reflect on the sacrifice, courage and commitment shown in service of our country - values that continue to shape our communities today.

Lest we forget. ❤️

🏡🔥 CHIMNEY FIRES 🔥🏡

As the weather cools and heaters fire up, don’t forget about your chimney and flue.

Over time, a build-up of creosote (a black, tar-like residue) can form inside your chimney. It’s highly flammable and can also clog the flue - increasing the risk of a chimney fire.

Creosote can build up faster when incorrect fuels are used, like green wood or treated timber.

Keep it simple:
• Have your chimney/flue cleaned annually
• Only burn dry, seasoned wood
• Check for any damage or blockages

A small check now can prevent a big problem later.

Stay safe this winter. 💛❤️

🔥🌿 FIRE DANGER PERIOD UPDATE 🌿🔥

The Fire Danger Period will be lifted from 1:00am on 7th April.

We know plenty of property owners have been building burn piles over summer and will be keen to get them cleared. While it’s not something we actively encourage, we know it happens - so if you are planning to burn, please do it safely.

Best conditions to burn:
• Mild temperatures
• Light winds (or no wind)
• Higher humidity (early morning or evening is best)
• Avoid hot, dry or windy days

Be prepared:
• Have a reliable water source on hand (hose, tank, or unit)
• Keep tools nearby (rake, shovel)
• Clear a safe area around the pile
• NEVER LEAVE IT UNATTENDED
• Make sure it is fully extinguished before you leave

Even with the Fire Danger Period lifted, fires can still get away quickly under the wrong conditions.

Burn smart. Stay safe.
💛❤️

🔥 A TIMELY REMINDER 🔥

Local brigades have already been called to two fires this evening - a reminder that we are still very much within the Fire Danger Period.

If you’re planning to light a fire, make sure conditions are suitable and that you understand the restrictions in place.

And most importantly - if you head to bed or leave, your fire must be completely extinguished.
Not smouldering, not warm… out.

It doesn’t take much for a fire to get away.

Stay aware and take care. 💛❤️
