Morning in the Gulf of Carpentaria

Mary-Anne Langridge captured this gorgeous Morning Glory cloud over Sweers Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland earlier in the month.

The 'morning glory' is a type of roll cloud and can be many hundreds of kilometres long. They're generally rare, however they occur reasonably consistently across the Gulf of Carpentaria from September to November, with several normally forming during this period.

The cloud is usually formed, in the right conditions, by the interaction between sea breezes on both sides of Cape York Peninsula, which results in a line of cloud.

Meet Forest, the world's tallest giraffe 🦒

The Australia Zoo resident has been officially named by the Guinness World Records as the world's tallest living giraffe standing at 5.7 metres.

And the 12-year-old giraffe is still growing.

He is also quite popular on the lady front and has "three girlfriends" and is the father of 10 calves.

The Guinness World Records said in a press statement giraffes typically measure 4.6 metres to 5.5 metres.
