The 2019-2020 Riverland BioQuest results are in! 4,721 sightings, 17,550 identifications. and 2,932 species were mapped between August 1 2019 and August 1, 2020! A fantastic effort by all involved, including the NRM Education Team that took out the Top Spotter and Top ID titles. There were many notable sightings over the year-long BioQuest including the Australian Bustard (Ardeotis australis) (near Chowilla Regional Reserve), Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata), and armored trapdoor spiders (Idiopidae). The prizes will be handed out to the different category winners in the near future. Thank you to everyone who contributed their sightings and identification skills. We are all lucky to live in such a unique biodiverse region. There is certainly more life out there than meets the eye, and citizen science is but one way to learn and explore this fantastic world!
