Thank you to everyone who took part in today’s costume contest! We had so many amazing costumes on display, and plenty of prizes to be won. Thank you also to everyone who joined us for the picnic and cheered on our dressed-up students.

We’ve already celebrated Book Week with Book Trivia on Monday and a lunchtime movie on Tuesday. Tomorrow, the celebrations continue with our Singer-Songwriter Showcase in the library.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there! 📚🎶

A huge thank you to our Parents Association for its generous support this year, with grants that enabled us to purchase two portable sound systems.

We were also able to purchase a new drum kit through a Parents Association grant, pictured here with drum student Em Cole.

Em Cole is only in Year 7 and is our youngest student ever to have led the Rhythm Section on drum kit in a musical production. She was awarded her own personalised drumsticks in recognition of this achievement.

Yeeeehawwww! 🤠 100 Days of Year 7 was a boot-scooting bonanza! In Week 3, the fabulous Year 7s celebrated their first 100 days here at MGC. We reflected on the good times, the hard times, the growth, the adjustments and the laughs we shared over the first two terms.

We celebrated with a day packed full of fun. The Year 7s played trivia, watched a film and created their own rock pets to join their classroom families. They made and traded friendship bracelets in the spirit of International Friendship Day.

To top it all off, they heeled and toed, spun and swirled to some boot-scooting line dancing and donned some cowgirl costumes, just for the joy of it all.

It was a fabulous day for everyone involved, and we hope the Year 7s made some memories that will last a lifetime. We are very proud of the way they have settled into their new high school lives and how much effort they have put into their first 100 days of Year 7!

From Monday 24 to Friday 28 August, we’ll celebrate this year’s Book Week theme, ✨Symphony of Stories✨ , with lots of activities, prizes and (of course) BOOKS!

We’re especially excited to welcome two local visiting authors: Danielle Binks, speaking to Years 9 & 10 on Tuesday, and Alice Pung, speaking to Years 7 &8 on Friday.

And of course, our annual Costume Contest is going ahead this year!

Congratulations to Georgia Den Elzen on receiving a Premier’s Award for VCE Dance in recognition of her outstanding achievement in the subject, which she completed last year as an accelerated student. Georgia’s hard work, creativity and commitment to her studies saw her achieve one of the highest VCE Dance scores in Victoria. Georgia’s success is a testament to her dedication, effort and passion for dance. We congratulate Georgia on this remarkable accomplishment and wish her ever success in her future endeavours.
