The Year 12 jumpers have finally arrived, and the students look fantastic wearing them with pride. It’s been great to see them show school spirit and celebrate the milestone of their final year of school together. Some of the nicknames they selected were very clever!

Year 11 Physical Education students took their learning beyond the classroom at OrangeTheory, exploring the cardiorespiratory system in action. 💪 Back in the classroom we explored the acute responses to exercise that occurred in the gym session.

Year 10 Outdoor Education students travelled to Mt Stirling to hike through some amazing scenery in the Victorian Alps. The three-day expedition included beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the Mt Stirling summit.

We have been extremely impressed with the resilience and positivity shown by all students in completing such a challenging journey!

Thanks to our parent volunteers and our instrumental music teachers, Ellyce Calder, Andy Clarke, Marissa Di Marzio, Susan de Jong and Tony Hicks and our camp mascot, Gretle.

A special shout out to our 18 Year 12's who attended their final Music Camp on the weekend, including Orchestra Captains Jasmine and Lucinda Buckle, Music Captains Indi Lewis and Mimi Kirsner-Reuten and Abigail Grigg, who have all attended every music camp for 6 consecutive years.

On Wednesday, our Senior School Executive hosted the Melbourne Girls’ College 2026 Leadership Conference, a day centred around student voice and it’s theme ‘Own Your Future’.

Planned and executed by the Executive, the event brought together a wide range of schools and leadership portfolios. Students worked collaboratively to develop solutions to challenging real-world scenarios and explored school initiatives from MGC and beyond during the Morning Tea Expo. Through our ‘Middle Ground’ debate students unpacked moral dilemmas and were encouraged to challenge others ideas.

A highlight of the day was hearing from our Alumni guests Kimmy Nguyen and Louella Breach, who spoke about backing yourself in professional spaces, navigating adversity in the workplace and university, and the role young people play as the leaders of tomorrow.

The conference wrapped up with groups performing their scenario resolutions as skits, which was a fun twist to finish off the day. As a whole it was such a great occasion to connect with student leaders from other schools and reflect on what we can do as young people in the present to shape the future

A massive thank you to everyone involved in making the conference happen!

Bees, Butterflies, Gold, Dirt and Paper inspired the 2026 VCE Drama ensembles.

These ideas shaped five compelling performances, developed through contemporary drama practices and informed by the work of theatre practitioners: Bertolt Brecht’s Epic Theatre, Jerzy Grotowski’s Poor Theatre, and Antonin Artaud’s Theatre of Cruelty.
